Early on we changed him in the middle of the night. After a while it got to be less and less, I also find that he never poops at night and has been peeing less and less at night.

Once he wakes up in the morning the flood gates open up and I have to change him a couple of times. It does seem like he is getting better control over it though.

I would rather not change DD's diapers in the night... BUT, now she sleeps all the way through from 7:30 PM until 4:30-5:30 AM. I feel like it's unfair to leave her in a wet diaper that has been on her for 10 full hours, so I change her. Of course, it totally riles her up, so then I have a harder time putting her back to sleep. Oh well. I'm hoping that in the next few weeks she extends her sleep by another hour or two, and then she'll truly be sleeping through the night.

Yes!!!! I can't imagine making her stay in a dirty diaper....It usually wakes her up a lot, but I make the sacrifice (Staying up to put her back down) so she feels clean! She usually poops after every feeding session so if I didn't change her in the night that means she would be sitting in three poops!

We don't change at all until the morning because he rarely poos overnight. I would change if he had a big poo and he was up for a feed, but I can't remember the last time that happened (the pooping, I mean :)).

Same. I used to when he woke up a million times all night. I'd change at every feeding. But now I try not to. This week I changed him once in the middle of the night because I could smell his poop. He normally doesn't poop all night until 4:30am or up to 6am....at that time he grunts and groans and squirms and toots and poops. I think it is pretty funny. And most of the time he goes back to sleep after doing it. So then I wait til his next wake-up and feed and change him (and actually bathe him) then. So, he's going like 10 or even 12 hours in one diaper. To make up for it, I bathe him in the morning and try to give him some diaper-free time after I bathe him.

I usually check her diaper before I go to bed. If it's wet, I'll change it. She's usually is in such a deep sleep that she doesn't even wake up if I change her carefully.

It depends. If it's been more than 6hours then I change her. When she was much younger and waking every 2 hours I didn't change her every single time either.
In the last week I've let her go overnight if it's been less than 6hours. I plan on buying overnight diapers soon. She'll be big enough for them soon! She's currently in size 2 and will probably only be in them for another week or 2. And the Huggies Overnites start at size 3.

When DS was younger, I would change him every time he woke up to eat. I'd change his diaper, re-swaddle him, feed him, and he'd go right back to sleep. He's a pretty heavy wetter. If he wakes in the middle of the night to eat these days, we still change him first. We don't have any problems with him going back to sleep but I think we would if we didn't do a change.

We do most of the time. I typically nurse on one side, then DH changes her and then I nurse on the other side. That seems to work well in getting her a clean diaper and making sure she's full and sleepy for another chunk of sleep. Of course, she's only 5 weeks old so it may change.

I do when I wake him to nurse him only b/c I change his diaper right before I nurse him during the day time. Yes, everyone tells me NOT to wake him if he can sleep through which he can most nights; but he seems to go right back to sleep afterwards. Most times he falls asleep while I nurse him anyway. But if I don't wake up I don't bother. I use Pampers Baby Dry. I find them the best in containing pee overnight. You can always go a size up if your LO pees a lot overnight. I did that with my oldest.

The first few weeks I did, but now (5.5 weeks) I find that he is too stimulated/awake if I change his pants in the middle of the night (and all my friends told me I was crazy for changing diapers in the middle of the night!) Of course, if he has a leak or if I know he has had a big poop I will change them....

Am I a bad mom?? Do you change your LO's diapers in the middle of the night?
