I used to have my work email on my personal phone and I didn't know how to stop checking it. I would be laying in bed at night and hear an email come through and would roll over to read it. Most of the time, yes, I do wind up checking emails and checking in. While I can take the time away, too much piles up and I wind up getting completely overwhelmed when I get back to the office. Even if it's just an hour every few days, that helps me to enjoy my time off because I will have some sanity upon my return! I try to give as much notice ahead of time to prevent this, but you never know.
