I am not a cellphone person, never have been. My personal phone doesn't even get internet (it's supposed to but the service is so bad it's never worked) and there's no need to check my work bberry 99% of the time since my job is pretty low key adn I'm in the office most of the time. I've been known to go an entire weekend without checking any of my phones once, which has promted my family and friends to start calling/texting my DH when they need to reach me - they don't even try me first! :)

At my old job though, I was once 'reprimanded' for not checking my Bberry on my way back from a client meeting. My boss needed something very stupid and nonessential, but he got mad that he had to go for over an hour without hearing back from me. That got me in the habit of checking my bberry more often esp during any downtime like an elevator ride. Once I left that job though, I went right back to my old habits!

If I'm listening to music on my headphones, no. (typical for work morning elevator rides)

all other times? Absolutely!

I usually try to check my phone... but the elevators in my office building don't get service. Sometimes I'll type out a text to send once I'm actually off the elevator.

Sometimes I do... Even if there's no service, I can catch up on previously downloaded emails I haven't read yet.

I think it depends what kind of elevator you're in and the time of day. If it's in the elevator where my hubby works, most likely people there are checking their phones (work emails, etc), especially on the way into work in the mornings.

I'm rarely on an elevator. But no I don't. I'm usually too busy trying to figure out where I'm going.

Not usually. I don't have many opportunities to ride in an elevator and when I do I'm usually not alone so I don't pull out my phone.

It depends if I get service. If its an elevator that doesn't get service, I don't usually check. Although, I do check my iPhone whenever I get a free second, so I would probably check my phone to see if I did.

The other day I was in a crowded elevator, and I looked around and every single other person was checking their smartphone.

I think there were around 8 other people on the elevator! Not a single person caught my gaze as I looked around!! They were all surfing the net. I was truly stunned. It was the first time I truly felt like I was living in the 21st century.

Do you check your iPhone/Android/Blackberry when you're on the elevator?
