if i don't declutter, she puts my stuff in a bag like my passive agressive college roommates.... so i try to clear off spaces or leave notes if i am still going through stuff (like when i came home from my baby shower!)

Ours comes every other week, and I just declutter a little. She will do it for me since she's been cleaning for us for 8 years and knows where everything goes, but I try to pick up anyways. Just put bills up and toss anything that needs to get tossed.

I do pre-clean, and I also put away things like bills and personal mail. Also, I put away favorite toys that, if misplaced, would cause a major meltdown!

What a great gift :-)

I used to clean, but I forget she's coming half of the time so I usually don't remember to clean. I do like to try to straighten up and de-clutter so that she can really wipe down surfaces.

I de-clutter and put stuff away. I also go ahead and throw the towels in the wash so they are out of the way. She does strip and re-make beds so I don't have to do that.

Yeah we definitely do. Ours comes once a month and it always catches us off guard, but we straighten up so they can deal with the cleaning. I don't make beds or really wipe down surfaces though.

Most cleaning companies will not deal with clutter, so I have to de-clutter a little. Some of the contracts also say they don't do dirty dishes. So i have to do dishes. Basically, if your place is so messy they can't get to the surface, they don't clean it. So there is a little pre-cleaning involved. I don't consider cleaning to be tidying up, like prettylizy said.

I straighten up - mostly try to make sure she can get to everything to clean. So I put up laundry, make the beds, put away anything that is out on kitchen/bathroom counters, etc.

i do a general de-cluttering of all of the surfaces, and wipe the sinks and tubs (DH makes a mess shaving.) Sometimes decluttering = throwing everything on the guest bed in our spare bedroom.

I do for sure. I make sure that the beds are made and all odds and ends are picked up off the floor. I don't want her spending her time tidying I want her scrubbing, vacuuming and dusting.

yup I straighten up--put things away, make sure surfaces are clear so she can clean. Otherwise, I find that things get put away and I don't know where they are!

My DH is the best and got a cleaning lady to come deep clean our place tomorrow as a Hanukkah gift to me :) And while I've kept our place neat since DS was born, cleaning has not been my forte in the past 6.5 months.

So here is the question: do you straighten up for your cleaning lady? Is there anything you do to prepare?
