i tried once, just with a clean, wet muslin cloth. we suspected thrush but wanted to get the milk out of the way to see if there was anything left, if that makes sense! it took me, DH, and my mama to hold him still!

@lemondrop: She also suggested I give him water because she doesn't believe in that rule. So, I should have known to take her advice with a grain of salt!

Never a stupid question! Not something I'd ever thought of, but I would be concerned too if a medical professional suggested I do it.

@rahlyrah: It's corny but I don't think there are any stupid questions in this mom game. I feel like a moron every few minutes.

Good point though - I would be very impressed with anyone who could clean much of a baby's tongue. My kid will hardly let me see how many teeth are in her mouth :)

@MrsF: It comes off easily, I can only get to the tip though. I thought I was supposed to clean the whole tongue.

I suppose it was a stupid question.

@hilsy85: It's definitely not thrush. It doesn't seem to bother him either. I'd never even thought about it until she mentioned it. I just assumed I had never heard of it because I'm a FTM.

Caked may have been a strong word. I'm just not sure how else to describe it. Milk residue?

Like @hilsy85: I was thinking of thrush too. milk should come off fairly easily.

@rahlyrah: hmm...I guess I don't really see the point? The milk on his tongue never bothered my LO and if I did wipe it off, it'd be back there a few hours later.

There shouldn't be SUCH a build up of milk either, such that it looks caked on, I don't think? If it doesn't come off easily, I would be concerned that it could be thrush.

All the caked on milk. The PA suggested it once when we took him to the urgent care center.

I try, but I am never able to get much off.
