Since getting married I would say the ratio has changed significantly. I'm closer with my female friends now as they are at the same point in their lives, most of my male friends are still single and partying so we don't have a lot in comon anymore. My best friend these days is a guy. DH is also equal-opportunity, and probably actually has more female friends than male friends. We're at an age where most of our friends are partnered anyhow, so we end up almost always hanging out with mixed-gender crowds and having both of us be friends with both partners. I only have one male friend and it's kind of an unusual situtation. I get along great with men, but I feel uncomfortable getting close to them because that can get complicated. Usually if I'm hitting it off with a male friend, I'll steer him to contact DH instead of me and that works really well. My DH gets along with everyone, so the guy will become 'our' friend and go through DH to talk to us.
