We usually do the first night. He starts out in the PNP n then ends up waking so we cosleep for the rest of the night. He usually gets accustomed after the first night. FX we're going on our annual trip next month, that he sleeps well!

We couldn't cosleep if we wanted to. DS HATES being in bed with us. Sometimes all we want is a short family snooze on the weekends but he freaks if you bring him in bed with us. I have no idea how he's going to react when he has outgrown the PnP and can't sleep in that when we travel. I'm a little nervous.

We recently shared a room with my 3 year old and 9 month old. DS1 loved co-sleeping, but he knew that it was temporary since we were staying in a special hotel. We reminded him that once we came back home we would return to our normal sleeping arrangements. It took about two nights for him to adjust at home.

My 9 month old was not a fan of sleeping in his travel crib. He enjoyed being back in his own room when we returned. He is also not a fan of co-sleeping.

we tried, but he isn't used to it and wouldn't calm down. so while we'll probably try out of desperation on another trip when he wakes up in the middle of the night screaming, it won't work, yet again, and we'll just be helpless.

Yes, because it is an epic fail every time we try to get her to sleep in her PNP. Last time, she slept the first night in the hotel crib and after that refused to sleep in it. We just roll with it.

We do a mix. We are traveling right now and the baby has ended up in the bed with us almost every night. I would prefer she stay in her crib, but it isn't happening. Our older LO is fine sleeping in new beds alone.

Yes, but we always bed share. I think it makes travel easier for us because she always feels secure in new environments because she's in that familiar space between the two of us.
It's one of the big perks of bed sharing, especially for a family like us who travels/moves often!

Sometimes! I missed a flight coming home with LO from a trip in June and had to stay in a hotel unexpectedly. I didn't have a pack in play or anything so she slept with me. Usually she sleeps better though in her own space, but it was fine.

We always sleep in the same room when we travel, and usually end up with at least one of them in bed with us for half the night.

When we travel, both girls tend to wake up extra early, but if we pull them into bed with us we can get them to sleep a bit longer.

we try to get her to bedshare with us sometimes (if she wakes early, etc) but she likes to party in our bed, so we usually do that for 30 minutes and back into her travel crib she goes. we typically room share.

He currently will usually sleep fine in a pack n play in the same room as us. When he has transitioned out of his crib and into a regular bed, we will either take an air mattress or a roll-up futon or something, and he will sleep on that, if we're sharing a room.

We've done it both ways, but our no-sleeping wonder baby doesn't like sleeping with OR without us when she's in a new environment, so it doesn't really matter what we try.

The best travel luck we had was when we went to my mom's and LO was sleeping in my mom's (gigantic, larger than most NYC bedrooms) interior, windowless closet. I guess because of the total darkness and quiet. Everywhere else has been a major sleep fail.

Yes, if by co-sleep you mean in the same room. I could never sleep with her in my bed because I'm afraid I'd smother her (heavy sleeper) but this past week we were at my parents and had to share a room. It was so hard. Every time I moved, she moved and I was afraid she would wake up. At 5:30am, she would be up yelling at me, "mommymommymommymommy!" She would usually come into the bed for 10 minutes or so, and spend that time kicking me in the head. It is no fun!!

We let DS take only a few of his naps with us in our hotel bed(s), but we were resistant to let him co-sleep overnight because we were reasonably sure that this wouldn't acclimatize him to the travel crib (that he isn't wild about in any case). Also, he gets a better night's sleep in the crib—despite his initial protestations—so co-sleeping is a little counter-productive for us.

we don't co-sleep, vacation or otherwise, but I TOTALLY wish I could have a nap or two with my LO's once in awhile.... that must be such a sweet experience :)

I hardly ever see what they look like sleeping, because we don't have a video monitor :)

when travelling, we just use pack n plays and cribs in the same room, or a different room if it's available :)

@Tanjowen: E was so out of his element that he mega snuggle-bear'd up and fell asleep in our arms. He does pretty well in his crib at home, so we haven't had a problem with transitioning back. It actually kind of took us by surprise, since he had been doing so well in his crib at home And we're not schedule driven parents by a long shot!

No. We take our travel crib with us everywhere because our youngest thinks that when he's in our bed it's time to play and no one would ever get any sleep.

To be honest, the travel crib lives in my car because I'm paranoid of being unprepared for a nap/overnight on any sort of trip.

@Andrea: Wow, that never occurred to me!! Usually we're just visiting our parents though... but if we do go on a real vacation, I'll look into a house!

@Tanjowen: When the kids were younger, they were fine with a crib... but now that they're older, they love to cosleep with us! Usually they're seriously jetlagged, so we relax all of our sleep rules to get them as rested as possible!!
