@Mrs. Pajamas: @autumnlove: Yes! No matter what we do we would eat as a family because thats really important for us as well. DH and I can obviously eat whenever its the kids we can't figure out the best time.

I wait until DH is home around 6:30/6:45 and we all eat together every weeknight. If my DD is asking for a snack before DH gets home I give her something little but usually tolerate whining until we can all eat together as I think that is really important for family time and healthy eating habits (she sees us eating vegetables, etc.)

@autumnlove: The other week we were playing outside and ended up going for a bike ride right after school. Sure enough by 7pm they gobbled up their dinner. Bedtime was later but in that case it was a Friday night so I didn't mind.

We push it back when DH gets home around 6:30 so we can eat together. Otherwise dinner is around 5:45 or 6 for them and we eat later!

My kids seem to have a big appetite for snacks around 7pm. We eat dinner at 6 and they are hungry (asking for snacks then too) but hardly eat dinner.

I think maybe it's just more a ploy to not eat dinner, but I'm tempted to just push dinner back rather than trying to get it on the table sooner.
