LO was racing around the house at 12 months so yes, I started calling him a toddler. But he'll always be my baby...

I think of her as a toddler now because she's walking/ running, wanting to be independent with things and saying lots of words (as opposed to not saying any words ;) ). She's 16 months. Prior to having kids though, I always thought of toddlers as being two!

@sotofamilia: I know what you mean. Even though he's 20 months old, there's still something about him that's a bit baby-ish. I can still pick him up. He can do two word sentences, but he has his own language for certain words. It still feels very baby to me.

No...he's walking and throwing mini tantrums, but he's still a baby to me. I think I won't consider him a true toddler until he's 18 months - two years old. I don't want to rush it!

My LOs walked very early, so even though they were walking, they were still very much babies. I wouldn't call them toddlers until closer to a year when their personality is more prevalent, even though they had been walking for 3-5 months.

I've always considered babies to be toddlers when they start walking. I see them still to be babies at a year, for the most part.

Regardless of what a 12 month old is doing it just seems so young to call them a toddler. Although I'm not really sure at what age I consider them toddlers.

Yep. At 12 months old, all of his toddlerisms emerged. He started walking, showing lots of independence, etc. He became a toddler right away then.

My 13 month old can run, kick a ball, feed himself, climb stairs...and throw some serious tantrums. So yeah. He doesn't seem like a baby at all anymore. Makes me so sad. I thought I'd have longer. :(

Hehe... I switch from infant to toddler whenever they start consistently walking on their own. And then of course the tantrums start... that's when I start labeling them as the "Terrible Twos" even if they're still one ;)

I did for LO 1 but LO 2 is still a baby in my eyes! She isn't very mobile so I probably won't consider her a toddler until she crawls, scoots, walks or throws a ridiculous tantrum. :P
