It's much easier to make one meal versus two. Since my son was a late teether (11 months) he wasn't able to eat food he had to chew on for a long time so I had to make two separate meals for a long time. He still isn't a fan on chewing meat so I still make ground meat to freeze (in ice cube trays) at 30 months. I just mix it into his pasta/rice and some chopped up veggies and there's a quick meal for him. Ideally, cooking one meal and not having to chop things up teeny tiny would be nice. :)

My parents never did and we won't be cooking separate meals either. Like others, I may set aside a portion of what I'm cooking before I add chiles/peppers but she'll be eating what we eat.

No, but I often plan our meals with the toddler in mind. I know what he likes and can usually figure out how to put together a meal we'll all eat. And I always make sure I have fruit and yogurt in the house in case he decides he doesn't like dinner. When in doubt, he will always eat fruit, veggies, or yogurt.

When we go out, DH and I take turns getting what we want and ordering a meal we can share—for example, we both love Chick-Fil-A's spicy chicken sandwich, but Eli won't eat that so one visit I'll get nuggets and we'll share then the next visit DH will get nuggets and I'll get a spicy sandwich. Heehee. Or we plan our eating out when we know a restaurant has a kids' eat free night and we order a full kids' meal for E.

We're not there yet, but I don't imagine I would. Unless she's crazy picky. And with my luck she will be, b/c I'm a picky eater.

My poor mom had to cook lots of different meals. I don't eat lots of veggies, my sister doesn't eat meat, and my brother can't eat dairy. So she would usually make something like stir fry but have everything seperate, so we would just take pasta, chicken, veggies, and cheese from different pans and bowls and take what we want.

We cook 1 meal but if ever we eat too late, or he doesn't want what we are eating he has leftovers.

Oh heck no, I cook one meal and if she doesn't want it, she doesn't eat. I don't cook anything too "out there" or spicy though either.

I probably won't cook an entire separate meal every time, but since we very frequently eat really spicy meals like Mrs. Bee, we'll have to make some exceptions. I'm thinking something similar to ours - for instance, if I'm making spicy chick pea curry, I can just separate some of the chick peas beforehand and cook them with broth as a simple soup.

No, I do not. I'd rather her get used to eating what we eat which means it's a lot of hit or miss but I definitely don't have the time to do 2 meals!

you're not supposed to cook separate meals for your kids, but i certainly do since most of what i eat is super duper spicy, and charlie is super duper picky.

I have a 4yr old bonus son. I came into his life right around the time he started eating all solids. I have never cooked all of us 2 separate meals. At times I may alter his, take a portion out before adding something spicy to it, so that it's more kid friendly, but I've never made him mac n cheese while we had something else. My sister on the other hand always cooks 2 different things every night. I'm wondering if I'm the odd ball.
