@Pirouette: yeah, he's really not into beans. He actually eats and at least pretends to like almost everything I cook. Now that I have been thinking about it all day, I am totally going to make it for myself for a weeks worth of lunches soon. :-)

@lamariniere: it's amazing the random things you can't get over there! ok, well that makes more sense, i was wondering why he didn't like chili...could you maybe do one that has a mix of veggies too so there are less beans? or he won't go near it if there are any beans? if he won't, then just make it for yourself and have it every day for lunch :) I don't see any issue in making something he won't eat...and maybe he'll end up trying it and realize it's not so bad (by which i mean delicious!)

DH doesn't eat cheese unless it's on pizza with meat. This makes things difficult b/c I LOVE cheese. He grew up very meat and potatoes but I've been slowly getting him to "like" veggies. It's hard b/c a lot of casseroles are out. And I really want to batch cook tons of the things so our dinner planning is a bit easier. I just have to get creative. And sometimes I hide cheese in there anyways.

@mrs.cookie: the quinoa pie sounds awesome! I know DH doesn't like quinoa very much. I'll have to give it a go though.

@sarbear: I'm going to end up freezing the chili when I make it.

@Pirouette: he doesn't like the texture of beans. If I make any type of bean-based soup I have to purée it otherwise he won't eat it. But who wants puréed chili?!?! I'm pretty sure ground turkey does not exist here, which is too bad because I LOVE turkey chili!

@MediaNaranja: oh wow. I think your DH would drive me crazy too! Who doesn't like bread?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I tend to remake successful dishes too often too. I think that's the domestic goddess in me.

Yup, but I don't make him eat it. Except maybe salmon. He doesn't *love* it, but he doesn't mind the way I cook it so he deals. Otherwise, if I'm really in the mood for something he doesn't like (most seafood, cauliflower/broccoli) I'll just cook it for myself and he'll have leftovers or I'll throw something together for him. Most of the time, its when he's not home, so it works.

@grizz: Whenever I make salmon patties DH ALWAYS tells me it smells like dump (shit) in the house, with a disgusted look on his face. I just tell him too bad and that it's delish, lol.

DH wants us to eat mostly vegetarian meals, but he's so picky about his vegetables that it makes it really hard to think of what to make! He doesn't like zucchini, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, squash, or turnips! I often end up cooking with zucchini anyways because that's the only one that he will somewhat tolerate.

No, I don't bother cooking anything DH doesn't like. It's not worth the effort at dinner time to make something different for the two of us. And he's an abysmal cook and would resort to eating cold cereal if I made him cook his own dinner. Plus I like to make him happy and I love when he really appreciates the meal I cook for him :). It's the one house-wifely thing I do well, lol.

Yes...my DH is SOOOO picky and not open to ANYTHING new. It is the biggest source of tension in our relationship, as stupid as it sounds. But I am not picky at all and I LOVE trying new recipes or styles of food, but DH is just so picky!! To give you an example....he doesn't like bread or bread-based foods (so we can never have sandwiches, burgers, etc), he hates all herbs and spices except for cumin and garlic, he insists on having rice with EVERYTHING, but only likes the expensive, $8/bag jasmine rice, and believes that the only way to cook things is by frying them.....like, we'll get a rotisserie chicken and he'll take off the meat and then fry it....w...t...f....

Sooo....we have a deal, that he's not allowed to complain when I cook things, and if he doesn't like it he can prepare himself something different.

It makes going out to eat, or eating on the run extremely difficult, and he's the kind of person that gets really irritable and cranky when he's hungry, and if there's not the kind of food he likes he'd rather not eat anything than eat something he doesn't like, and it creates a whole spiral of messyness, haha.

I better stop now or else I'll get myself all worked up, but I could seriously talk about this for days.

Meh, not really. Now and then I may make myself, say, brussel sprouts, but I don't make tofu for dinner and then expect him to eat it. We have leftovers/scrounge nights so sometimes we just eat what we want.

DH isn't a fan of vegetables and it's so frustrating! He will only eat roasted broccoli, which I do love but it gets really old to have it nearly every night! I make him eat spinach salad, though, which has been a big win for me. I keep saying to him "what are you going to say when DS is old enough and says 'if Daddy doesn't have to eat veggies, why do I?'" I'm going to have to start getting creative and hiding them in stuff...

my DH likes almost every food on the planet, but there are a few he doesn't really care for, like cauliflower and squash. So i try to make them only occasionally but when i do, i cook them using things he does like, like lots of olive oil and garlic and roasting instead of sauteing or putting them in a pasta dish. and he'll eat them even if they aren't his fave. Maybe you could make turkey chili? or some other kind of chili that he might like more? depending what it is about chili he doesn't like (My DH would eat chili every day if he could, you could ship him the leftovers ;) )

DH doesn't like ground beef, so it's like pulling teeth to get him to try things with it. So either make it with a different meat(ex I make Shepard pie with cut up steak instead of ground beef) or convince him to try it. I love chili and he refuses to try it. I just make some and then freeze it for myself for later.

Yes, my husband is a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy, and I prefer casseroles, soups, ect. so we compromise. I give him beef at least 2x a week and he is now open to trying everything once with an open mind.

Last night I made seasame noodles for LO and I since he had softball, he doesn't like them and we love them. Sometimes he just has to suck it up and sometimes I give in....compromise!
