I do - DH tells me I have a trash mouth. Trying to curb it as yesterday I said a few cuss words in front of my niece and felt so bad and need to start curbing this habit!

I hate cussing and we never do it. I think it is so appalling to see a cute little kid who swears and the parents laugh.

We don't really cuss that often. Only when we're really really mad. But we're definitely trying to not even do that since our son can understanding everything we say now. It's hard though! In the heat of the moment, it just comes out!

Yes, we (to quote my parents from when I was in high school) talk like sailors. We are working on lessening it, but when we get closer to Cam picking it up we will need a cuss jar. And make the fee like $5 per naughty word.

We are going to need to come up with our own code language like on How I Met Your Mother.

I don't cuss. I grew up in a non-cussing household, and the words never enter my mind when I'm talking. I do say things like "shoot" and "frig" in times of extreme emotion, but other than that, it's "shucks" or "oh my goodness/word". My friends say I talk like an old lady. I never noticed until they told me so.

DH grew up with cussing relatives, but I've never heard him cuss. Ever.

Yes. Both me and husband need to back it down a bit at least with the more foul descriptions we come up with. We both like coming up with creative and slightly offensive descriptions of things so it's going to be hard to not try to make each other giggle like this anymore.

His theory is that kids cuss among each other and adults cuss among each other so we should just be done with the whole farce and let the cusses go. Maybe when she's older we'll take that view but for now we're going to teach by example and try to tone it down while she's around.

DH is a teacher so he isn't much of a cuss-er any longer. He trained himself to say F or D or S instead so I try to do that as well. Sometimes we'll use the real word but only for emphasis and usually while DD isn't around.

My plan is def watch this bad habit from getting worse in the next 7 months and DH and I will not be cussing any more!!

Hubby and I are pretty bad about cussing (he's horrible about it actually and rubbed off on me). When we're around kids, I'm usually pretty good about watching my mouth. Hubby on the other hand, not so much.

@mrbee: I don't cuss very often & if I ever say the "f word" you KNOW I'm really mad! I do not like when people swear infront of LO, but I understand things slip out & as long as they say "whoops sorry" or something along those lines I don't mind

I cuss sometimes and I'm really trying to stop completely. It's become a bad habit. DH has a horrible potty mouth after being in the military for 2 years! DS will be 8 months old in a few days and we've been talking about starting a swear jar! DH's mouth has been out of control!!

I find swearing pretty disrespectful in general, but I picked up the dirty habit from MY dad. When I'm upset or hurt myself I usually say the D or S word. But I need to make sure I get out of the habit soon, LO is 2.5 mos so I need to work on it now before he starts talking!

I used to have a terrible problem with cussing but I have gotten much better. I do not want our children to cuss and I don't see how it is fair to use a certain set of words and expect ever learning children to not use the same words.

We cuss. It is another way to communicate. We try to find other ways to say what we are trying to say but sometimes, its the only way. We have slowed some with LO but he is going to learn the words anyways. I would rather he learn to use them correctly in context from us.

We both swear if we're super annoyed but we don't in front of the LO. Well, we will modify it, too, and say "F this" but I am not sure if that will be acceptable for much longer. It's not that hard to figure out and she talks way too much now so we should stop that soon, too.

I usually don't swear but occasionally it slips out if something terrible happens. I just say "dang" and "shoot" in front of LO and he seems to have already copied that so I'm happy that I don't have the habit of swearing...
DH on the other hand, will let out "dammit" and the f bomb when he's frustrated. I get annoyed with him since I know he can control it. A few weeks ago, our garage door opener's battery died and DS whispered "dammit"...ahh I was shocked that he picked that up. So DH is making an effort after hearing that to use other words like fudge, or shoot.

I don't cuss. I never really have so the words feel foreign when I say them. My husband cusses sometimes. When we have a LO I'd prefer there not to be any cussing around them. Even though I'm an adult now I think it would be really disrespectful to cuss in front of my parents.

I loooove to cuss. It's just nice to be able to speak freely sometimes. I am constantly having to filter what I say, and so I guess swearing relieves some of that pressure for me.

However since Charlie started to talk, I have barely cussed at all. If I want to use the F word, I will literally say "F word" or "Eff." But usually, I find a new way to express my thought that doesn't involve cussing.

I haven't figured out what our home policy towards swearing will be. My gut sense is that we won't swear, and we will expect our kids not to swear either. We'll see how realistic that is over time, I guess!

Do you cuss (when alone, or in front of your LO)? Also, what will your home policy be towards cussing when your kids are older?
