In my family, we all buy for our parents. For each other (siblings), we stop buying the adults gifts once they have kids. So now I buy for my step-sister, my sister and BIL (usually as a couple), and then my step-brother's 2 kids and my other step-sister's 5 kids. In Hubs's family, they buy for everyone - siblings, kids, and parents. With his extended family they used to do a white elephant cuz there were like 30 people, but they stopped having the big extended family parties, so they don't do the gift exchange anymore.

We do, both for my entire family (so like 20 people), and for my MIL and my husband's siblings+ spouses ( so 8 people). I would hate buying for that many people. Plus I just don't love how it's feels forced to have to buy for so many people. I'd rather there be no presents for anyone but kids and to just spend the day with each other.

We always did with my cousins. My mom is one of 12 in her family, so there were A LOT of cousins! It was always so fun to shop for them and then later to see what you got!

I don't forsee my immediate family doing this, though. I just have two brothers (one is married), and no nieces or nephews (yet), so it is still pretty easy to get everyone gifts.

We do. I have two sisters (both married). So the girls draw names for each other and the brothers-in-law draw names. Then we all buy for the parents. It works well because you are able to spend more on the sibling you are buying for, instead of spreading the wealth. It's my favorite way to do it!

We do something very similar to you. I'm one of 5 and 3 of us are married, so the 5 siblings draw names. For the spouses, we collectively get one gift for each spouse (like, my sister and brother buy a gift my my DH, my sister and I get one for my SIL). We sometimes all go in on something for my parents together or do something separate. It was getting to be a lot of gifts with all of us.
DH's family all buy gifts for everyone and spend more money than my side usually does. And his brothers both buy me my own gifts, not just something shared with DH, which is really nice but I'm like, sorry my family doesn't get you as much, hubs!

ETA: We all buy for my nephews. There are only two of them so far and everyone loves to buy baby presents! I just worry about keeping it somewhat equal for each of them, even though one is my godson and not so secretly my favorite.

Nope. My mom buys presents for all of the cousins (her nieces and nephews). My brothers and I buy for each other and for our parents, usually a joint present for our parents. We do limit it though. My brothers and I only spend about $30 on each other (usually in the form of giftcards) and we throw in $50 each on our parents. We don't buy for spouses/SOs.

I do buy for my niece though also. And I bet my brothers will buy something for C this year.

My family does! I have 5 siblings, and two are married! It would be way too many to buy gifts for. We each draw one sibling to buy for, and then we all buy for my parents.

I drew my sister's name and my SIL has me. :)
