We don't travel a ton (usually 1x year) and DH much prefers money back on our purchases. We get 4% back at gas, grocery and pharmacy, 2% on recuring bills and some other stores and 1% back on all other purchases. It's a pretty good deal. We just got a new credit card for miles, but the only reason I signed up for it was for the one time bonus. It was 60k mile bonus for charging 1k within the first 3 months. I'll probably cancel it after a year though, since they charge a annual fee after that, and it's not worth it to me (and I don't believe in paying a fee for a CC when there are so many good free ones). We've used points for airline travel in the past; what I like about this card (Chase Amazon) is we can redeem points on any airline/cruise/etc instead of being limited like with some cards.
