I have a blue stroller that was DS's that I fully intended on using on S. If this one is a girl, she'll probably be using it. I have a few other items, like crib sheets and blankets that are just solid blue and will be used on this baby, boy or girl.

I also now have TONS of girl stuff that's unused, so if this is a boy, I'm probably going to try and pass as much as I can onto him, whether it's pink or not.

My son's favorite color is purple so I buy a lot of purple things! I also bought a pink changing pad cover just because it was pink. I'm not a huge fan of pink (like bubble gum pink) but this was a pretty blush/pastel pink. And I had to have it.

I don't think I've ever bought a strictly gendered toy for my daughter - I'd probably avoid it. If something I just had to have came in 'boy' and 'girl' colors I'd be more likely to buy it in whatever was closest to gender neutral, and that's always the 'boy' color. But I'd do my best to just buy something else.

Typically I try to stay away from things that are too gender neutral or girlie because most people think DS is a girl. I did buy him a purple t-shirt and a tie-dye onsie that has a lot of pink in it though.
Since we didn't find out the gender, we had a couple items that leaned a lot more towards girl than boy (pink & purple pacifiers, a teal sweaters with hearts all over it) but we definitely used most of them. And my step-mom bought us a toy that clearly said on it "Pretty in Pink" even after DS was born. It's still one of his favorites! She also bought my nephews purple and pink bunny purses for Easter one year, so I think she just really wants a granddaughter!

My son got so sad at about 20 months that we didn't have any pink or purple t shirts for him! I bought him girls polos and luckily purple skinny jeans came into fashion. My DH was a little uncomfortable with it, but wisely said nothing :)
My red haired daughter just doesn't look that good in pink -she wears a lot of navy and aqua, teals and greens. And as the second child, she wears a lot of blue/boy sleepers and play clothes!! She rarely gets mistaken for a boy though - although I do chuck bows in her hair a lot!

I bought a lot of gender neutral clothes early on (before the anatomy scan) and the only time I posted NB pics of her in them, someone commented about how handsome she was! After that I bought tons of bows! Hehe!

DD at 14 months, still doesn't have much hair, so I'm afraid she's going to be wearing pink for awhile because she won't let me put bows in her hair anymore! I don't know why it bothers me whenever someone asks if she's a girl or a boy, but it does. The last time someone asked was an older kid in the playground. She commented on how cute DD is, but it's just so much easier if it's obvious she's a girl. BTW, I a little bit (just a little) over pink!

C wears boys clothing. Shes owned shirts, PJs and shoes. She usually wears black Converse, which are extremely neutral bordering on boyish.

She had lue and green bottles and has boyish straw cups. She had neutral/boyish blankets and bibs.

I dont see anything wrong with it. I do think its easier to buy boy stuff for girls than girl stuff for boys though.

I have bought a few girls shorts for my boy, they had a bow on the front that I snipped off. They were on sale, and it worked out great. Otherwise it's pretty hard for me to find girl stuff that works for boys. Plus I hate pink, so I really avoid it.

hehe i buy pink stuff for my boy LO too... he has a pink straw cup, lots of pink/red/orange bowls and cups, and a few pairs of leggings. but those are in neutral colours like black and white stripes. he has one pair of pants with pink on the waistband, but the rest is grey/white stripes... they *were* from the girls section, though! :)

I gravitate to neutral colors- mostly bright and random. They do have some pink/purple toys though. If we every have a girl though she will have lots of blue everything because that's what we've been gifted.

I have a girl, so I think that's easier to buy "boy" stuff for them, since blue is totally acceptable for girls - even though she's really young, so even when I put her in a blue dress, people ask if she's a boy. All her bath stuff is blue, and she has plenty of blue blankets and stuff.

@californiadreams: a lot of my blankets and accessories are blue because they match our nursery, which is gray and aqua/turquoise. So my A&A blankets are those colors and they are draped all over my stroller with my little girl inside.

I also bought a lot of neutral (green and yellow of course--blah) as well as some boy sleep n plays for our daughter in case we have a boy next. My fave is a blue and white striped carter's sleep n play with a crab on the butt. Technically, it's a "boy" outfit, but I think she looks like a little sailor girl in it. lol.

And...i just don't care if people think she's a boy. Doesn't hurt my feelings...all babies look genderless, I think.

@scg00387: i totally agree about the marketing so we buy things twice! i do like girly stuff though, so if i have a girl next, i will get her some very girly things. I always tell LO that he can dress how he wants he is older too. specifically when he stares at me putting on make up, i tell him although he probably won't ever wear make up, if he decides he wants to, it's up to him!

@californiadreams: yep I buy pink and purple and use those colors in fabrics I sew for him. Last week at aldi he was in yellow with orange shorts and a lady behind me in line said it was inconsiderate to put him in "gender neutral" colors and confuse people as to what gender he is haha! I don't put him in ruffles glitter and bows; but pink and purple are fine by me! (And if he wants to wear ruffles glitter and bows he can once he is older of course). Pink used to actually be considered a masculine color and blue was feminine. I think enforcing and encouraging gendering of colors is a manufacturers main goal- how else could they convince people to rebuy stuff for their second child :)

As an aside it cracks me up how often I see on Instagram shops and our facebook resale group people asking if something is intended/originally for girls or boys... If you can't even tell whyyy would it matter!

I buy the colors I like, which include pink and purple (and other brights). People seem to ask if he is a girl more when he is wearing yellow and orange for some reason. I don't really care either way. Colors are colors. Once he is old enough to pick his own clothes he can but by then he'll be plenty used to his rainbow-esque closet.

part of it i blame on the gifts i received though and can understand why some people don;t announce the gender before baby is born. My mom constantly buys blue stuff from burp cloths to stuffed animals to pacifiers.

@stine_ciro: all our baby blankets are blue or yellow! i recently invested in the A&A ones and went with the jungle theme so i could use them if i have a girl in the future.....but why couldn't I get pink ones now?! It's a blanket, i am not thinking to dress him in a pink dress with ruffles or anything, LOL

I buy boy clothing if it's cute for dd. my sister bought pink and purple pacifiers because they were on clearance and said they will be used at home. She uses them outside when she can't find the boy/ gender neutral ones :)

Break the stereotype and get the pink bib
