SO we dropped cable completely. We got Apple TV for a Christmas present and subscribed to Hulu/Netflix/NHL TV instead. Between that and Amazon Prime Video, there's really nothing more we need and it save us SO MUCH MONEY. We pay for super high speed Internet through U-Verse because DH needs it for work, but he business expenses it, so we don't really pay for that. I think our channel subscriptions run us about $40.</p> <p>With our Verizon bill, we found that both of our employers each had employee discounts so I have 15% off my line and DH has 10 or 15% off his line too. Mine also offers me 25% off on accessories. Last time I upgraded my phone I also found that the cellular store I went to get my phone from offers its own insurance coverage that was cheaper and better than Verizon's, so I went with them instead (and have used it to replace my phone twice!)</p> <p>DH usually has our insurance agent bid around for better life, disability, and malpractice insurance rates every year and so far we've either gotten the rate down every year or we've gotten better coverage at the same price. Its a no brainer for us since is the agent who has to do the work. They'll usually give us a call or mail a letter 2 months before our annual renewal is due and my husband will call and say find me a better deal. When we moved, we had to call in order to transfer service, and the representative threw in a year of free cable in order to entice us into paying for it once the deal e was up. Once there was up, we were able to extend it for another 6 months for free, and then they would not continue giving us the deal so we cancelled that. Their plan did not work :-)</p> <p>We have tried to get hospital and car insurance bills lowered to no avail. We have not tried with any others.
