I usually put dry beans in water and bring to a boil, then turn off, cover, and let them soak for awhile (hours). Then I boil them again until soft.

Soak and then drain and cook in the crockpot. I do a big batch and freeze in Pyrex :)

I cook beans in a large batch and freeze them in large ziplock bags for future use.

I throw them in my 5 qt pot, fill it with water, and boil it for 2 hours. I usually boil it plain to turn it into chili.. I've boiled it with bacon, onion, garlic, and a bay leaf. I cook it overnight in my crockpot when I remember to.

I usually soak them for a few hours in my enameled cast iron pot (5Q?), drain them and let them sit in the colander. Meanwhile I saute a diced onion and some garlic in a tiny bit of olive oil for a minute or two, add the beans, a bay leaf, salt, pepper and enough stock (I usually use vegetable or chicken, or water) to cover the beans by about two inches, bring it to a boil then let it simmer, covered, for several hours. Sometimes if I have it I throw in some sausage or a ham hock. If I'm making lentils the process goes a whole lot faster, because they don't take long to cook. I've never made them in the crock pot, I'll have to try that someday!
