I have a small rotation of lunches and I always feel bad that it's not more diverse. But lots of people eat similar things each day for lunch... He always gets: cheese stick, fruit, veggie pouch and a veggie (peas, brocolli, carrots) and then I alternate chicken nuggets(organic white meat), PB&J, or pasta. This week he had sausage twice. I know he'll eat those

Yes I feel guilty! I used to send him to daycare with so many different lunches and now it's basically the same - fruit x 2, cottage cheese or yoghurt, some type of crackers/veggie straws and pasta with veggies (because he loves veggies). I feel bad always sending pasta though!!

If you guys want some easy/quick food ideas, i've been trolling Gimme Some Oven and she has a handful of 5-6 ingredient meals that you could easily put together, portion out, and freeze in single servings for your kids! I'm making a few for freezer meals.

Just an idea if you want to add some easy variety :)

I do! Thanks for this thread , I could have written it!

I feel so bad that almost every day, I make him baked chicken or salmon, some pasta, and some veggie (either steamed broccoli, green beans, carrots or corn on cob). Every, day! I just feel so bad because my mom is a SAHM and while we didn't have fancy things to eat every day at least each day was somewhat different... but I do have to work and I already stop working every day at 4-ish to start cooking.... if it is different every day then I'll have to stop working every day at 3:45pm, which i can't. Not to mention a lot more planning ahead (which I am too lazy to do. Yes, guilt) Just feel so bad.

I am also hoping to venture out to other easy recipes but I don't even have time to research. Now for veggies I do Kale Chips too and it is not crazy difficult to make and he eats it so that's good. I will study this thread later for ideas :)

I make the same 8 dinners over and over for LO because I sometimes feel like I don't have time after to work to source a bunch of dairy-and-soy free recipes that are quick and easy. And I don't want to spend my weekends meal planning either.

Our go to's are dairy free meatballs, roasted chicken, broiled salmon, dairy free fish sticks, or italian sausage in pasta---always with some steamed vegetables of some kind. That's basically it, every day.

But today I am mixing it up with chicken burgers and homemade sweet potato fries, and I'm sure lo will reward that effort by eating none of it. ;-)

Yes - though it's usually the same thing I'm packing for her lunch. Pasta or rice, with chicken. I try and do more, but when we don't have dinner leftovers or she doesn't like it, I just send something I know she'll eat.

@Mrs Green Grass, @SorryCharlie - DD LOVES TJ turkey meatballs. I also keep those in the freezer and send them as her lunch.

I do, but she's been refusing pretty much all food recently so I don't really care what it is as long as I can get a couple bites in her. She eats all sorts of things at daycare but at home she tells us "no" (and means it) no matter what we offer her.

We meal plan, and make sure suppers are relatively straight forward and realistic to prepare, on a week night. However, our daughter usually has hot or cold cereal for breakfast, M-F. It takes me a while to get going in the morning, and she simply will not wait for homemade waffles and sausage. No guilt; she seems to dig it, and has more variety, throughout the day.

Eggs are easy and guilt free! a "real" meal that is super easy is stir fry. Just get a wok, cook chicken it takes 10 mins, throw in bagged veggies (another 10 mins) and some sauce. Healthy and quick! We eat it with different types of sauces (red fork and McCormick make a good variety!) to keep it somehwt interesting. You can always toss in marinara sauce or something. And it's only one Pan to wash!!

@Mrs Green Grass: their frozen meatballs are DELICIOUS. my daughter is 2.5 and pretty much refuses all meat. In the last couple weeks since I started shopping at TJ, she has eaten their meatballs, their frozen grass fed burgers, and the just chicken strips! I was shocked.

@Smurfette: Yep, we're barely in the house (like the door is still open) and he's begging for a piece of bread. Nothing on it, not toasted, just bread. Occasionally I can manage to make a half peanut butter sandwich with it, but half the time he freaks out about it.

I pretty much only make easy things. Here are my staples: frozen party-size meatballs, "Just Chicken" package, shredded cheese, frozen veggies, frozen microwaveable rice, a quesadilla (all from Trader Joe's). Don't feel bad at all - just find some additional ways to keep it easy and quick for yourself!

Seriously, he eats scrambled eggs and a hot dog just about every night (and a piece of bread, sometimes crackers or goldfish, and always applesauce or yogurt and berries).

I've been so. exhausted. it's not even funny. I don't know why, but I do know I barely have the energy to cook dinner. I feel so guilty for feeding my toddler the same basics when I'm zapped...grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, or spinach tortellini. I know it could be worse, but..

I need to expand my easy-dinner options!
