DD LOVES shopping and running errands! She'll nap in the K'Tan if it's nap time and the rest of the time she's happy looking at everything. She gets really bored and frustrated at home so I try to make it out of the house atleast a few times a week.

I think she definitely prefers going out. Today she rode the subway for the first time and clearly loved it!

Usually my LO loves being out and about. She loves looking around at everything. I think she often gets bored at home. In fact, when we come back from walks she cries when we walk in the door.

I don't have a choice but to take her on all my errands. I do feel bad when she's stuck in the car seat for a long time (especially since she's decided she absolutely hates the car seat now), but I think it's good for her to be out and experience new surroundings. I'm constantly talking to her, engaging her, and pointing out new things so that each errand or trip is more fun.

I hate how her naps get messed up though! Usually the car ride to our next errand is just long enough for her to fall asleep :( Once the car turns off, she automatically wakes up and is too stimulated to sleep once we're at our destination. Sometimes when she's finally fallen asleep, I'll just keep walking laps around Target or whatever store I'm at so that she'll be able to nap for at least an hour or so!

I feel bad if she doesn't sleep, but usually she naps while in the Moby which works great. I leave the house with her at least once a day.

I feel the same way! I was out shopping today and LO coughed and I thought, "What if she gets pertussis because I bring her out all the time??" I feel like its better to stick to our routines at home...

I feel the opposite! I worry that I don't take DS out enough! I feel like we are always cooped up in the house. And I know in a couple months it'll be worse because of winter. Hoping for a mild winter around here again

@Coco Bee: That's how I feel too. :( It's hard to work around naptime and I feel bad when she crashes in her seat while we're out.

There's no choice but to drag the LO around on errands. I don't feel bad but I do limit the amount of errands in one day because I don't want her sitting in the car seat too much. She needs time to run around, too.

You can also turn any trip into a learning experience. We're teaching her to read letters now so we do little games like find all the letter A's on signs.

I take DD everywhere. I try and make it fun for her (talking about colors, fruit, lights, etc). I think it's good for her to see other things besides my face & our living room. We go out once a day.

Plus I secretly love having strangers try to peer in the stroller or tell me how cute she is :)

I often feel that way too because it's nearly impossible to run all my errands in the two hour window he has before he needs to nap again. And a good twenty minutes of that two hours is spent feeding him, getting him ready to go out, loading him into the carseat, etc.

So it's hard choosing... I try to keep it to just once a week so that's the only day naps are sacrificed.

But I also have to think about myself, I know I'm happier if I'm able to get out during the day, I don't like staying in the house all day every day.

He does like being out because he enjoys looking at everything going on around him.

As long as LO is old enough that it's safe for him/her to be out and about I don't think you should feel bad. They still get to spend time with you and they are out in the world with lots to look at. Our pediatrician suggests keeping baby out of public places until 6 weeks but after that I'll definitely just to whatever I need to do and take the LO along with me.

Sometimes I feel guilty for bringing LO along with me for errands. I feel like we should be at home relaxing, or playing, and not out at the grocery store, or wherever I need to go that day, but it's just not realistic to stay home all the time. It's been nagging at me recently because I feel like I've been busier than usual and I feel like it's not good for the LO. How often do you take LO out with you, and does it ever make you feel guilty?
