How mean. :-(

Yeah our daycare would call me with a heads up that she had 99 degree temps. From their tone, I always got the sense that they wanted her out of there. While it was annoying since I was working, I suppose it was good since their practices really kept illnesses down and DD was rarely sick while attending daycare.

@Bookish: She's only been in daycare 4 months, though. And her illnesses have only been little colds & ear infections (which aren't contagious). She usually waits until Friday night after the ped is closed for the weekend to spike a fever :silly:

Oh man, that's annoying!

My daycare definitely doesn't seem like they try to offload Xander! Even when he's sick, sometimes they'll just say they'll keep an eye on him and that I don't have to come pick him up early!

@lawbee11: Never?!!?! Oh man, I'm super jealous over here right now!

@autumnlove: Uh yeah, that's completely unprofessional. I used to wonder about that in the daycare we used, because it seemed like they sent her home for nothing! It's frustrating! Lately though they seem to be doing a better job of calling and letting me know they *might* have to send her home, which I appreciate. Gives me time to get things situated at work.

And I'm on week 6 of having my kid home, so I'm familiar with the calls now. GAH!

Oh no...that's not very professional of them. I've never gotten that impression from our DC...they will call with a warning that LO has a low grade fever, but they won't call for us to pick him up unless it's 101. I've seen on his sheet before that it was 100.9 and they let him stay for the rest of the day.

@autumnlove: That's awful and they should be embarrassed, but I can totally see it from their perspective. They aren't happy that your LO is sick, just happy to have a little less work....you can't be too hard on them, IMO. On the other hand, I'd be totally annoyed if I heard them say it as the parent  Hope LO gets better soon!

1) I would have immediately told the director at mine if I heard them do that.

2) we went through a rough patch with DC calling b/c K had a fever. I would rush her to the peds to find out she was 98.5, 99, 99.5 when DC had sworn she was 102.5. I then bought them a digital thermometer and said it was to be used before they called me. Now - we have since got her ear infections under control - so I dont know if it is directly associated but I have not been called since I gave them the thermometer.

When I dropped the thermometer off - I reminded the director that "If I keep having to come get her for no reason and wasting time away from work I wont have a job much longer and need to pay them.".... :)

our daycare is very lax. maybe too lax! there is supposed to be a 24 hour fever policy, but as long as they don't have a fever morning of they say send the kid. they keep the kids if they're a little off in the morning and see how they're feeling then call us if they really start to get sick.
