@IRunForFun: @mrs. 64: @sarac: @bushelandapeck: thank you all for helping me feel less crazy! I felt like I was losing my mind, and it was really starting to freak out DH.

@bushelandapeck: ooh, I meant that I hadn't had the med in three days. I've had shocks daily, but I only had one yesterday. I'm hopeful it will go away soon. And you're right, it is seriously the strangest feeling!

@IRunForFun: @mrs. 64: good call on not turning too quickly. I notice it happens more when I roll over in bed, and since I'm usually half asleep, it's a rather nasty way to wake up. I was more gentle last night, and it didn't happen once I laid down. Progress!

@LovelyPlum: When I went off of Effexor several years ago I was always describing it like I was being electrocuted in my brain. It was just the strangest feeling and I was really glad when it ended. If you are down to one every three days, I would guess it should go away pretty soon.

@LovelyPlum: I've had this every time I went off zoloft. Not pleasant, but it goes away. It was better if I didn't try to turn my head too quickly.

@LovelyPlum: Yes, I'll bet that's it. I discontinued my Effexor suddenly many years back, and I had a similar sensation. It's a common side effect of quitting SSRI's and similar drugs.

@LovelyPlum: No problem! It's a weird feeling. I always just tried not to move my head too quickly, haha. Good luck!

@IRunForFun: just did some Googling, and it sounds like you nailed it. I'll still bring it up on Monday, but thanks! I'm going off of Zoloft for my third trimester, when the risks are a little higher for being on it. If all goes well, I won't take it again until the baby is born. I thought weird dreams were my only symptom, but I guess I was wrong!

I appreciate it :)

@LovelyPlum: I was going to say that's an extremely common symptom of SSRI withdrawal (your description sounded sooo familiar) so I'd put my money on that. It should go away eventually, but if the shocks become very frequent, it wouldn't hurt to check with the doctor.

@IRunForFun: oooooh, I'm currently weaning from them. I haven't had any (down from half a pill) in three days. Could this be it?? I never thought about that.

@spaniellove: sudden. I wondered if it was baby kicking me in the cervix, but it's not localized to my pelvis, which made me wonder...

Is there any build up to the shock or is it just a sudden zap that you only feel for a second?

So I'm not pregnant, but I'm curious if you are on an SSRI?

This is a very strange question, so I'll see if I can describe it: sometimes, when I'm laying down, or when I'm relaxing at night, I will all of the sudden feel like a shock will run through my body. I don't know if it's baby kicking me a certain way, but it usually makes my whole body jolt. It's more starling than painful, but it does get old after a while.

It has been happening a bit more recently, so I figure I will bring it up at my appointment on Monday. But, I figure I'll ask here, too-does this sound familiar to anyone else?
