Nothing wrong with it, an adult can only enjoy so much child's play. If I find myself getting really bored, I try to redirect to a game I also like, or get the kids involved in chores. I usually have Netflix playing in the background while I watch her play or do other things that I need to get done around the house. I don't know what I'm going to do once she wants to interact with me more. Does that make me a bad parent? Haha. I'm happy to be a SAHM for the first year or so, but after that, I don't think I'll be able to handle it! I think of all the things I need to be doing around the house. I LOVE taking my boys to activities, exploring, and stuff outside the house. But indoor pretend play, building stuff, and playing cars? It is mind numbingly boring to me. She's still a little young for most of it though and the little bit she does doesn't involve me. I will happily pull out craft supplies and do super messy projects when faced with hours of pretending to enjoy monkey soup... I worked in a daycare center in high school and would get sooo bored after a few hours. Not everyone is like this, my mom has always worked with kids and I think she genuinely never gets bored, so I used to think that was the norm. I'm hopeful this will continue so I don't have to feel guilty when I get too bored to handle playing with her. As a nanny I got super bored sometimes, so I know it'll happen. My mom says when I was little I would tell her to go away if she tried to play with me (I don't remember this, but I continued to prefer playing alone for most of my life, so not surprised), and maybe LO will be the same. Not sure how that'll play out if we have a second though! We do active things together, we hang out and snuggle, I take part in her imaginative play - but I do not really sit down and build trains with her. It isn't fun for me. So I find other ways to engage, and then I make the space and time for them to play, and we're all quite happy. DS has, at long last, decided he likes having books read to him, which is wonderful, but he's been particularly obsessed with this big, thick baby words book. Its long, its boring, and its just pictures of objects that you name over and over and over and he wants you to go over it with him 3-4 times every time. We sorta hide it beneath his big stack of books and he always flings all the books aside until he can find it and then he's like YESSSS LET'S DO THIS!! He's not verbal yet, so I know we have to keep at it, its just soooo mind-numbing and keeping an animated voice for that long is hard when you're tired. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and crabby. We've been in his playroom for a couple hours and built several racetracks and he's made me coffee, a bowl of lettuce, and eggs in his play kitchen, we've jumped on the trampoline, colored, etc. and I'm going stir crazy! Lol I don't like staying home all weekend. Do you ever get bored?
