Carrying heavy things is a big migraine trigger for me. But I can't stop holding my lo!

Yes, my right arm is in constant pain and I think it's a combo of carrying my LO and using the computer too much.

I had/have severe tendonitis in my hands, wrists and forearms from holding LO so much when she was little-little. Now that she's bigger and I hold her less, it's gotten better but sometimes my wrists still "lock" for a few seconds. OUCH!

Yes! My back hurts all the time. I can hardly carry him around anymore (he is like 36 lbs!).

I should add that DS is almost 4! He pretty much walks everywhere himself! :)

We encounter the same thing when we go on walks with our son. We have a framed back carrier that we use for hiking/camping, so my husband uses that sometimes. But he mostly just carries him over his shoulders as well - sometimes he does complain about back issues when carrying him for long periods. I actually find that doing a hip carry with a sling on an older kid pretty comfortable.

@mrbee: I know people who carry a 2 yr old around! We'll probably use the Ergo for as long as we can too. DH loves carrying LO around in it.
It doesn't look as funny if you use it to carry your older child on your back :)

@chopsuey119: Do people carry two year olds around? I haven't seen that one too much around these parts...

LO's still relatively light so I haven't gotten hurt yet. My arms are actually getting nicely toned from holding her so much ;)

Have you tried a carrier? I know Ergo's weight limit is 40lbs. You can back carry too.

My back muscles started to twinge this morning when I was lifting Charlie to get into a cab on the way to the doctor. I've been in a lot of pain today, and am hoping it goes away soon.

I carry Charlie a lot, because I don't like using a stroller and sometimes he just walks too slowly for us to be able to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. I guess that strategy will need a rethink!

Do you ever get hurt from carrying your LO around? Or do you stick to strollers and carseats, and so this isn't an issue for you...
