@rahlyrah: oh my gosh girl I would have freaked too! :( yiu poor thing!!! I've had dreams about J before and it's impossible to calm down afterward.

@autumn865: I've "seen" intruders too! Oh my gosh SO scary.

@Running Elley: :(

I've had one nightmare since I was little that involved the joker from batman and it's scared me so much I never saw the Heath ledger version of batman bc I can't bring myself to watch it.

One of the medications I have to take causes disturbing nightmares if I take it at night. I hate nightmares. I wake up with my heart racing and a sweaty mess. I get them maybe once a month. DH said I was shouting "no, no, no" in my sleep last night but I don't remember any of my dreams being particularly disturbing.

I forgot about this. Oops.

@PermaStudent: it feels like a nightmare but I can't move or scream. Yet I know its not real but I can't wake up. It always feels like something is trying to get me and I just can't get away. Apparently its not a dream but a hallucination that happens while falling asleep or waking up (from what I've read online)

@CupQuakeWalk: it is so scary!! I went a while fine but this past week it happened and I could not get to sleep afterward. I use to have it all the time a few years ago.

I do. It always seems to happen when I'm anxious going to bed. Once I wake up, I have to get out of bed and walk around, get a drink, or read. If I try to go back to sleep, I keep obsessing over it.

I have nightmares fairly often and they're always about the same general situation (home invasion). I've never had a nightmare about anything else and I've been having nightmares about home invasions since I was little. It terrifies me because I feel like I must be having them for a reason.

I have never had a heart-pounding-wake-up-screaming type nightmare, but when I'm stressed in life I tend to have what I call "stressful dreams." Since pregnancy they've generally been zombie apocalypse dreams, and I'm always separated from my husband trying to get back to him. In the past they're things like family members dying or being terminally ill. Generally I just wake my husband up for a snuggle and that makes me feel better, although the stress feeling does usually last a few hours at least the next morning.

I have these "nightmares" that occur in the first hour or so of light sleep. They usually involve giant spiders but have also seen intruders etc. I don't realize I'm dreaming and I "see" them in real time and in real setting (I.e spiders coming down from the ceiling while I lay in bed or intruders with a weapon walking in my room while I am in my bed.) from DH's perspective I bolt upright screaming and thrashing about because I actually "see" these things. It takes me a few minutes to realize they aren't real. Sooooo scary :( I had night terrors as a child. Maybe related to that?

@Koolbreeze: I have had sleep paralysis too!! Omg so scary. I haven't had an episode for about 3 years but when I was 20 and going through one of the most stressful and dark years of my life, I had them ALL the time. We just experienced a death in the family, I was quitting my job, I left a long term relationship and we were moving out of our hometown. I used to get them multiple times a week where I'd be in my room and I'd see something that needed immediate attention (or else), but I could not move.

I had one last night; not fun. I usually just get right out of bed, make some coffee and distract myself with cleaning something, browsing online, listening to happy music... anything to get my mind out of the bad dream.

@Koolbreeze: Sleep paralysis - that sounds terrifying! What is it?

I have bad dreams all the time. I think it has to do with my anxiety over E's safety all the time or the thought that something could happen to me. I'm a big worrier.
Be careful on the roads! I can't handle thinking about dangerous roads. I need to leave Michigan and move to Florida, so I can be stressed out about hurricanes instead.

Yep, I have them between 2-4 nights a week and have been for about a year. At this point I'm so used to them that they don't really affect me physically and I can go back to sleep.

Yes. I had a dream the other night (when my mom had B) that she gave him a bath and forgot she was watching him and left him in the tub. When I found him he was all bloated and it was terrifying.

I trust my mom 100% and I know she would never let anything happen to B but she got a MOTN phone call to check on him anyway.

I've had a lot of nightmares latey because I've been reading a lot of thrillers and I always end up dreaming me and my family are in whatever situation is going on in the book. So I've only been reading happy books lately to avoid the bad dreams.

And I go through sleep paralysis sometimes, which is the scariest thing ever.

I almost always remember my dreams, occasionally I'll have a nightmare. Unfortunately, that was tonight. I got up extra early today then had a little scare while driving jake (hit some black ice & couldn't stop) so I was exhausted by the time I got home. I went to bed early and now I have this awful feeling I can't shake from this awful dream. I'm browsing HB and checking weather reports to get my mind off of it.

Do you ever have nightmares? How do you deal with them?
