We live in a 3rd floor apartment, so there's really nowhere I could go while LO is sleeping that isn't kind of far. If we had a yard, I'd totally be in there sunbathing, though.

I imagine I'll leave baby while I take out the garbage or check the mail, but I cannot imagine more than that.

The only times are to go get the mail or take out the garbage. I'm so lucky that my parents live about 10 minutes away and my Dad is retired so he can run over for an hour or so while the baby is napping and I can run to the store...but I totally rush while I'm at the store :)

So glad to hear we all seem to be of the same mind... Ever since that story of that little British girl Madeline who disappeared from the hotel room while her parents were downstairs in the restaurant, I just cannot help but feel super paranoid!

@Mrs. Bee: I still laugh when I think about that story! I just imagine little you, so confused!

@Rachel: we have dogs, but luckily they are small and don't need too much exercise, so we just let them out the basement door, they run out, pee and poop, and run back in. We talk about walking them around the perimeter that the baby monitor will let us go, but frankly we are too lazy ;) Instead we try to take the whole family to the park at least once a week for outdoor time/exercise.

The furthest I'll go is to the curb to take out the trash on garbage days. Sometimes when I need just one thing from the grocery store this is at most half a mile away I do get tempted to run out, though!

I always wonder how people take their dogs out to pee once they have kids - like, do I have to bundle the baby up for two minutes of outdoor time or can I leave him/her in the crib/pack and play for those 2 minutes and grab the monitor?

I recall a post where @Mrs Bee mentioned that she once woke up in the middle of the night and her parents weren't home-- they had gone to the store and left the kids home alone while sleeping. That made me chuckle, but also made me wonder. There is a train stop a 15 min walk from our house (or 3 min drive) and if one of us is coming home late from work after RJ's already in bed, we're always wondering if the other should just jump in the car and pick them up, especially if it's raining, snowing, or icy. We always end up just sucking it up and walking.

I sometimes wish we lived next door to a deli or coffee shop so some nights we could step out with the baby monitor in hand and have a mini-date. :)

Do you ever leave your LO at home alone, even for a few minutes? (I guess I mean outside of baby monitor range!)
