@artbee: I snuck into his room last night! He woke up at 4 or 5 and then I held his hand and he went back to sleep. So I think I got an extra hour of sleep out of the deal!

I'm all about pinky promises. But LO is too young for that. I'd be too scared she'd remember and then wake up in the middle of the night and I wouldn't be there, so I'd probably sleep in her room. If I want her to honor her promise's, I have to too.

That's a tough one. I haven't made any promises like that to my son. I've only promised him things like, iPad after dinner or cookies after dinner. And I try to keep them even though, 99% of the time, I don't think he remembers. But like you said, I want to teach him to honor his word.
A good night's sleep is invaluable for a parent though. And I wouldn't want to get into the habit of him expecting that I'd sleep in his room all night every night.
Haven't tried pinky promises yet. That's a good one to teach.

I taught Charlie what a pinky promise was today, and he really loved the concept. Then tonight I pinky promised him I would sleep on the floor next to his crib. In my defense, he just wouldn't go to bed and I was desperate to sneak out and get some work done!

So now I am done with my work and facing a quandary. I doubt he will remember our pinky promise in the morning. But at the same time, I want to teach him to honor his commitments.

So should I sneak back into his room, even though I know it will leave me with significant neck and back pain all day tomorrow? Or do I sleep on the king-sized bed and then sneak into his bedroom in the morning before he's awake?
