It's done by the time we're asleep. Our place is so small that we wouldn't be able to sleep with it running, and yes, I do that to minimize the fire risk. I do the laundry while I'm home and awake for the same reasons. Also, I've seen a laundry machine break and start to flood the floor. Trust me, you want to be able to react to that quickly, too. I always put a load of laundry in at bedtime and set the delay timer so the load starts about an hour before I get up. That way the wash cycle is done by the time I'm up and I just throw it in the dryer and fold it after breakfast. It is super convenient. </p> <p>I run my dishwasher at night too! Bc that's when it's full and also bc it's loud. We usually start it after dinner and it's usually done before we go to bed, but we have run it right before we headed to bed. Never the washer, but we have turned the dryer on before going to bed. I don't ever leave the house with any of these appliances running in case they catch fire.... I guess I never thought how that could happen while I was sleeping.
