When I was a kid sometimes my mom would take parts of my favorite movies and books, but mix them together and have me as a character in the story too. I always loved it!

I read this idea on Instagram, and now I tell the kids stories from movies instead of making up my own nonsense. When the kids are a little older, I'll probably make up some recurring characters for bedtime stories so that they (hopefully) have some happy memories of childhood.

For now though, this works just fine. But if the kids ever see the movies Big or Splash, I'm pretty sure the jig is up!
