I like my husband can enter his own chores in and sees what's available to do. If it makes my life easier and him more responsible, I'm game. I know that I can't change him. He has to want to change, but showing him a way to do something like chores has been helpful on the maturity path. Chore Wars is a website where enter chores as "adventures" and earn points for doing chores. It's like Dungeons &amp; Dragons for chores. You set up a family "party" with a number of basic chores as well as ones you can customize for your family. We added picking up toys at the end of the night, cleaning the high chair, washing the bottles, etc. </p> <p>We've only been doing it for a week, but preliminary results say that the message might be getting to my husband. For the past two days, he's made the bed since he's the last one to leave in the morning. He asked me to add getting gas for the car for an adventure. I was kicking his ass earlier this week, but he's catching up on me. My mom thinks because it's a competition, he doesn't want to be the loser, so he'll work towards more points. More points means cleaning house and him taking ownership for his share of responsibility in our house. At the end of the week/month/quarter, I'm thinking of adding some sort of prize or something like that to further encourage chores. </p> <p>This coupled with our chore/activity/reminder whiteboard has been helpful in accountability, nagging less, and general responsibility. I've been butting my head against the wall about this for months and months in counseling. No matter what I'd say, it wasn't getting through to him. He wasn't raised to do chores. My MIL goes on and on about his vacuuming to music as a kid. It sounded like the only chore he had. I'm determined to teach my LO and future LO's household responsibility. So far, it's been a start. When I do wake up super early, I usually just play on my phone until I absolutely have to get up. I've attempted to get up and clean, but I generally just seem to wander around blankly until I really wake up at 10 am, lol. Also, even if I do get started cleaning, it never seems to work out real well because the kids usually hear me and then get up to demand breakfast and that's the end of that project. And then the day is started.
