You are not alone! I felt and still feel that way about pregnancy too, sometimes I just want to shake women and say "you do realize we've been getting pregnant and having babies for thousand of years and the majority of the women in the world give birth without proper access to advanced medical care, super clean water, proper food, etc. You are not going to harm "the baby!" by forgetting to take your prenatal vitamin one day, walking extra fast another day, eating a less than medium done steak, having a sip of alcohol, or a slice of cold deli meat.". Sometimes perspective is a good thing, and less dr. Google would be beneficial.

I should clarify. By all means, it is so important to research things like education, vaccines, sleeping, etc. Those are important, I think. I'm talking about the little stuff. For example, I had an hour long conversation with a friend recently about wipe warmers and whether to keep the thermostat at 70 or 72. Seriously. That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Things that really don't matter AT ALL!

I think having information is helpful as long as you don't go overboard. I know when I made my registry, I read hundreds of reviews, when I should have just checked the ratings and picked something already. I wasted a lot of time that way. I think the important things are safety related. Recalls on gear, safety issues with different products and car seat safety. Those are my priorities anyway.

I agree with @regberadaisy: while access to more information can sometimes feel overwhelming I'd rather be over informed than under informed. atleast that way I can decide which information to take on board and what to ignore.

I agree with some of the others that we are better for the information.

I also agree that people can get into information overload and it can add to anxiety etc. And at that point, sometimes people do need to know that they need to relax. That not everything is a life or death decision (some things are and obviously this doean't work for those.)

So, I think it isn't the information that is the issue but their response to it. I have a friend who is exactly like this. She just is always on edge about everything and I wish I had the balls to tell her just to calm down. She was the MOH at my wedding and I was so relaxed and she felt like she had to stress out for me.

No, not really. I think as first time parents it's hard not to freak out about every little thing. It is crazy all the information that is out there. But at the end we're all trying to do the best for our child.

Better to be over informed than not informed is my stance when it comes to my baby.

I'm sure we'll all ease up some on the second. :)

Yeah sometimes all the access to info stresses me out and makes me feel like I'm not doing anything right. So I'm trying to learn to tune it out and just do what feels right for us. So I might be one of those people you want to yell at :-)

With so much access to information, so many opinions, so much pressure to raise "the best" child, I feel like so many parents overanalyze and freak out too much. Sometimes I want to just yell in their face "CHILL OUT!" I'm not in the "everyone needs to do what's best for their family" camp on this. Just chill. Am I alone?
