Haha, I did today. A co-worker and I were having a discussion and part way through, I realized that we were arguing the same point (just not understanding the way were describing it). So I tried to explain that we were on the same page. I said that she was misunderstanding what I was saying and she said that she wasn't (the discussion was getting heated by this time). But WTF? I was trying to agree with her!

Yes. The thing that makes me the most upset is those who abuse sick time. Usually when that person calls in sick it makes my day like 4 times busier somehow.

I constantly want to hurt the new guy. When you start at a new company, don't you try to use the same terminology the company you are working for uses so you sound the same as the rest of the team? This guy refuses to use some of our terminology, which is different than where he comes from. It usually just bothers me when I'm crabby but, dude. We call them customers, not clients.

It's the little things...

I feel your pain. I actually got yelled at when I addressed it with higher ups at one of my jobs, like lady literally got it my face screaming and accused me of not having enough work to do if I had so much time to watch what the lazy dude was up to. I had been so fed up and that was the final straw, so I straight up told her that I quit effective immediately. It really sucked, but my sanity couldn't take it anymore.

I work with a woman who thinks that she is the top dog in the department. In reality, she's the lowest person in terms of responsibility and pay grade. She is rude and condescending when she speaks to anyone and has made it clear that she does not care for me. The best part is that we share a cubicle wall and I can hear her talking about me to one of our coworkers and her friends when she spends about 5 hours a day on the phone with them. The day that she called me a princess when our boss told her to do something that she thought I should be doing was a highlight. I almost snapped but was proud of myself for keeping my fury in check.

@eeh: i've done the BCC thing and nothing ever happens. :-( I think I need to set up a meeting to talk to my boss again, this is stressing me out too much! I actually switched departments a few years ago because of this coworker but my company had a series of layoffs last year so departments were merged and I am working with him AGAIN. I am grateful to have a job but he is the worst part of my day...5 days a week!

I think this might be the reason the blind cc was invented, no? Instead of him being aware you included the boss and therefore stepping up try sending him some emails where he doesn't know the boss knows and hopefully at some point bossman will see that his buddy is a slacker.

Oh, and as for him having other people send you work..a simple forward every time should stop that. At the top put: Hey Joe Blow, Steve accidentally sent this to me. Since this is actually your responsibility I wanted to make sure you got all the information you need.

EVERY DAY.

We have a coworker that my friend and I coded "Long Winded Eagle." Slacker of the team, which is bad enough, but wastes everyone else's time with long, drawn out useless conversations.

I've grown numb to it for most days, but on days like today when I'm swamped and LWE is whistling on by... GRRRRRRRRR SO MAD

Be passive aggressive back and send him an email and tell him for some reason you have been getting emails for things he should do.

I admit I'm passive aggressive but you can sure play his game, too.

Hi [insert coworker's name]-

How are you? I'm good. I've been getting some emails from other coworkers for some tasks to do. I was under the impression that these were things you could do. I'm fairly busy right now and don't have much time to do them in addition to my own responsibilities. I can certainly find time but I may have tell [insert boss's name] that one of his deadlines may be delayed. Please let me know what I should do.

Thanks,

I have one in particular who I could slap just about every day, it is no secret we do not care for each other. She is extremely anal and set in her ways, making no effort to listen to others. I finally brought it up to my boss (who knows the way she is, she has had issues with several people in the comapny) and that worked for maybe a week, and she's back to her old ways. SIGH come on maternity leave!!

Oh I feel for you 100%. One of my biggest work peeves is when people try to get out of doing their jobs. I'm not a manager, but part of my job is assigning the smaller tasks out to junior people so I can work on the bigger assignments and you wouldn't believe what some people will do to get out of doing any additional work.

Ugh, just having one of those days!

I work with a guy that takes about 15 smoke breaks a day in addition to his lunch. He passes the buck on every task and is only productive when our boss is CCed on emails. I have tried talking to my boss about this but he is buddies with this coworker and he told me to just work it out.

This coworker is extremely passive aggressive and he has people send me all kinds of tasks(that belong to HIM) when I work from home. I guess he doesn't think I am productive or is jealous that I work a few days from home?

End vent.
