I voted other. I've seen board posts that are created because of blog posts.

I never thought about it the other way because I figure it takes weeks to write a blog post and to edit it. If something was sparked by a board post, I would think it would show up on the blog weeks later.

Speaking for myself, if a post is requested/inspired by someone (either in a blog comment or a boards thread), then I'll usually cite them in the opening of the post!

Most of my blog posts are on kind of random topics though, and come from conversations with Mrs. Bee... or from issues that come up when we're spending time with the kids! Or if a particular blog post is well-received, I'll sometimes do a followup post on a similar topic...

@Cherrybee: My bank consists of the one or two posts I'm working on at the time. If someone asks me a question on the boards that they request a blog post on, I'll start a few sentences to remember it and then come back to it later when I have time.

I wish that I was that organized. Obviously I'll only speak for myself, but I just do what I feel like writing about, and I have yet to build up any sort of "bank." I do somewhat tend to gravitate towards things that are controversial. So personally, I write a lot in my head. As I'm putting Lorelei to sleep I'll be thinking of the biological imperative to reproduce and writing a memo to my ovaries telling them that their work around here is done. If it's funny enough, or good enough (not to mention if I can hold on to it long enough!) then it'll go down in a word document; as a snippet if there's not enough there yet, but I don't want to lose it, and as part of a post if there's enough there. Most of my posts I write and edit in a single sitting. I write them up as a word document, and then transfer them to wordpress. Then I will "preview" what the post looks like finished to do my editing. Then I add photos, and then submit. Sometimes something on the boards will inspire me (I'm not much use to y'all if I don't write about things that are relevant and interesting!), and sometimes it's just something I'm thinking about.

I had assumed that The Bees had a bank of pre-written posts and, when a topic seems to be pretty hot right now, they think "hmm, let's go with that blog article on X,Y,Z on Tuesday..." I wonder what the real story is!!

@Mrs. Jacks: I figured that it wasn't instantaneous but it's interesting to hear all that goes into the process of doing a blog post. Maybe one of the bloggers should do a post on all the work so we can further appreciate the awesomeness that is HB? Just a thought!

I sometimes write based on the boards. When I do, I cite the discussion that spurred my interest in the topic. Writing a post (for me) can take several days or longer. Also as you can imagine, it doesn't magically go onto the blog the moment I am finished with it. There is a lot of work that goes into getting it ready to post and it's appearance on the blog.

Having said that, some topics can hang around on the boards for some time or a repeated often... Which may give me time to see and respond to a topic :)

Again, I can't respond for anyone else, just for myself.

...if the blogger's posts are spurred by the discussion on the boards? Sometimes I notice that when a topic has been hanging around the board for a while, one of the HB bloggers will write a post about their experience with that particular topic. I've noticed this happening a few times.

What do you think? Pre-scheduled or spur of the moment?
