I have no idea how they managed to both work, keep the house clean, make meals, support our schooling, and love us with only 24 hours in a day. I should tell them that more. They're my step-daughters though, so it isn't full-time. They're all spaced 3 years apart, adding our LO to the mix was a bit more difficult, now that I'm pregnant with #5 I'm having daily panic attacks. I work full time and just know that it won't make financial sense to have our 2 lo's in daycare. My ds is older (11) and goes to his Grandma's after school, but they're so busy with their vineyard that they can't watch 2 under 2! I only have 1, but I've heard this a lot from moms of 3. However, once the eldest hits 4 - 5 yo, it's not too bad. The kids all entertain each other. They both worked full time. My older brother was 8 and I was 2 when the youngest was born. My parents said it was really hard, but at least my oldest brother was in school and could help out and didn't need as much attention once my little brother and I came along. We never got to go on vacations though because it was too expensive to fly 5 people and driving was uncomfortable because we were all smushed in the car. Now after having 1 I have no idea how we could even handle 2! My friend has 4 kids and while I know she loves it she is always telling me how tired she is. DD is now 9 months and we are toying with the idea of #2 but I don't know how we could handle it right now! They are super laid back parents. They don't put a lot of stress on themselves. Their kids aren't always as "clean" looking, for lack of a better word, or dressed to the 9s, but they are well behaved and well mannered. I think some families are better suited to having more. And she works full time out of the house and so does her husband. They ALWAYS seems so put together AND even hosted bible studies at their house..... I have NO. I'm in the older set and helped out with . my siblings a lot. I used to get a little annoyed about it as a teen, but it actually taught me a ton about babies and small kids so I feel like I entered parenthood with more realistic expectations and more comfort. Family help can be big, too. I loved visiting my grandparents! My mom did most of the day to day stuff herself, though. We were also a blended family, so that added complications. I feel like the more kids you have, the older some of the kids will get and therefore more independent and they can help out more. On 19 kids and counting the older girls are always watching the babies, not the parents. I look at people with 3, 4, 5, even 6 kids and it seems easier for them with more kids! Do you ever wonder how they do it? What's the secret?
