Never happened to me, but it did happen to some people I knew. I've seen reenactments of those on the Travel or History Channel... </p> <p>But in the US? I think cabbies are usually legit. Car service is more creepy... Well, in NYC. It's just not as regulated... So anyone with a black town car can look like they are legit, but uh... no.</p> <p>My DH found a super-friendly driver who took him to work once and he ended up just always calling him for rides. We always use him when we visit NYC. He even helped us move apts once. He has a huge Tahoe so it's family friendly when we're with the kids. On our honeymoon a "taxi cab driver" (I think it was a transient) @ the San Juan Airport tried to get me to take a cab. I told him I didn't need a cab. He was trying to corral me like cattle towards his car. Everything there was open air, no doors in or out of the air port or hotel so I bolted back into the hotel area by my husband. (I think Angelina Jolie was in it..) </p> <p>My mom's flying in early Monday morning. I've been worried about her taking a cab (she arrives at 6am) so I booked a car service to pick her up and bring her to our place.</p> <p>Funny thing is, she was concerned about it too and was relieved and thankful when I called her to let her know this morning.</p> <p>This is why I don't watch freaky movies anymore :P </p>
