So I am incredibly paranoid about opening my door and if I'm home alone I totally turn into a ninja and try to get to a window to see who it is. I also rarely answer the door if home alone. Even when my husbands home and someone unexpected comes to the door i'm always like *whisper* "Hon! Someone's at the door! Who is it!? I'm so sorry! That's so frightening. </p> <p>We have a buzzer &amp; intercom system to get into the building &amp; I always look out the window for a truck before I answer. Once we had these ppl that kept banging on our doors even after I wouldn't open the buzzer, someone else must have buzzed them in, but they kept saying they were with a cable company but we don't have cable. I always ask through the door who it is. Still, I don't open the door unless I know them or am expecting them. We have the same UPS driver and FedEx guy as well. The UPS driver even carried m packages into the house for me when I was huge and pregnant but he knows my father in law and I baby sat his kids a couple times but i don't think he remembers that.</p> <p>Last year we were waiting on a service call from the cable company. They told me they would call when they were on their way. I never got a call but a truck pulled up marked with a different (contracted) company name just showed up at my door. I wouldn't let them in until I called the cable company to confirm. Then, they asked to use my bathroom and I wouldnt let them. I usually know when I am expecting a package/or someone so I just buzz them in. On a side note story, I was living in IL (live in MI now), and we lived in an apartment there too. I knew no one there except the family I nannied for. Well someone buzzed and I was like wtf?? So I asked who was there, and a guy in a weird accent said he was the pizza delivery guy. I didn't order a pizza. So I ignored it. Five minutes later I get another buzz, reluctantly I ask who it is. Again, pizza delivery guy. I said I'm sorry maybe you have the wrong address. Is this X (my last name), he asks...I kinda started freaking out because I was home alone. I told him to go away and he said it was delivered from my hometown. I called my mom to ask if they maybe ordered me a pizza, she said no but maybe our friends did being nice. So, I let the guy up (stupid I know), and it turned out to be my fricken wedding DJ, who drove all the way from MI (5-6 hours away) to give us our sample CD. Can you say wth? I was a little weirded out, but he said he always wanted to visit the city we lived in. She's really a giant pansy, but you'd never know that from her bark ;-) We're lucky to live in a town small enough that we know what almost all of the postal workers look like, and even most of the UPS/FEDex people.
