When they're 6, I can definitely tell you that you won't forget how they were at that age. But, even when they're big kids, you still cherish every moment, because they're still so amazing.

And now I'm crying. I just stare so hard at her, it's ridiculous. She grows so much every day that I can barely stand it. I really hope I can remember all of it! I'm taking as many pics as I can, but they don't show how good she smells or the funny sounds she makes!

@honeybear: me too! I guess I'm worried I'll forget how it felt? That sounds crazy, I know.

@sorrycharlie: I know. All the sudden they're big kids! I think you were the one who related to my story of literally counting down the days until M's one year birthday during newborn nursing sessions. It seemed like a million years away. Now I sort of want to slow down the next month :(

@Mae: I do like the blog idea! Even if it's just a journal I need a way to remember the little (and big) things.

@MsLipGloss: Aaaand now I'm crying again. DH thinks I'm a total lunatic. I absolutely agree with you though. All those things and more :(

@tinyperson: Me too! M is 11 months tomorrow and I can't even deal. It breaks my heart that I can't really remember what it felt like to hold her little 4 pounds 13 oz body. I'm just trying to memorize everything I can!

Yes yes yes! I'm in tears once a week when I realize how big she's getting.

ETA: @mslipgloss: I'm in tears now reading your list. Mine is so similar. I want to go wake her up and snuggle...ok, not so much

Yes! I have spent so much time trying to memorize the soft curve to her cheeks, her beautiful hands and the dimples above her fingers, her beautiful (still!) gummy smile, to memorize the sound of her babbles and her laugh, the way she stands and shifts her weight to one leg, the way she laughs hysterically at everything right before bed time, the way she smiles at me when she's nursing and we share one of our *jokes* . . . EVERYTHING. I am trying to soak as much of it in as possible!

Blog! I haven't had a kid yet but I've been keeping a blog for a few years now. I post only sporadically and I have very few followers, but I love it. I try to go post there when something funny or memorable happens, or just what my thoughts are at a given time. Even if you started a blog you never made public--- just to write down those little moments-- I think you'd appreciate it later.

Today I gave M 4 bottles; prepared, fed and cleaned up from 3 meals; changed 6 diapers; got M in and out of her car seat 6 times; freaked out that M only napped for 20 minutes; made dinner for DH and myself; cleaned up and put dinner in fridge when DH called to say he would be late from work again (*sob*) etc etc etc...

and then my independent, never cuddles, big girl fell asleep on my chest with her arms around me. I held her for thirty minutes with tears running down my cheeks praying that this would be the moment I remember.

How do you make sure you remember the important moments?
