M feeds herself but mid-way through her meal she says "mommy, feed you?" haha ...i guess she gets lazy and wants to be fed. i used to not let her feed herself because she would make such a mess but she feeds herself at daycare and with #2 on the way, she has to start at home sooner or later.

Before he started getting picky with eating, I used to always let him feed himself. Someone told me once to let them enjoy eating even if it creates a mess for you. If they enjoy it, they'll be good eaters. But now, we have to feed him sometimes when he refuses to eat.
Our younger one is one purees still but I can give her a spoonful of something and she'll feed herself. Otherise, she's always grabbing at the spoon and gets mad if we don't give it to her.

LO feeds herself finger foods. She prefers it. Though lately, we put some food on a baby spoon and let her stuff it in her mouth via spoon. She's always had good fine motor but I think it definitely improved with all the practice. When we worried about how much she ate, we would spoon feed her as long as she'd let us, then let her have a go practicing feeding herself.

A mix but mainly me feeding her. When she feeds herself she smashes and squishes and throws on the ground. I'm impressed with all the baby led weaning stories because pretty much zero goes in my LOs mouth. It's like taste then squish then smear then taste then throw then feed to the dogs.

Probably 50/50. Messy foods, like soups and cereal, we'll feed him. But grabbable foods, he'll just feed himself. But he definitely eats a lot more when I feed him.

I've had my LO feed herself since before she turned one. Sometimes she says "help" when something is a bit difficult to eat and then of course I help. But otherwise, she can do it herself.

These days it's been a mix. We usually fed him everything but snacks. But we realized he should probably be learning to eat on his own, and regulating how much he eats on his own (learning when he's full, etc instead of just us tricking him into opening his mouth for the next bite). So now we'll encourage him to eat on his own, even messy stuff, even though I hate it. As soon as he starts making a mess for fun though, I stop it.

He's getting pretty good at spooning up applesauce! That's probably the toughest one. He still can't spear food onto his fork very well but we'll set up the bite for him and he'll pick up the fork and eat the bite.

I feed LO. She only eats purees, but she's always trying to grab the spoon so I want to start some finger foods soon.

LO is 7 months old so I feed her her purees. But she eats rice rusks on her own, which she likes to do. I think soon, I will be letting her hold food and feed herself (ie. cooked carrots, tofu slices, etc.) - it's exciting!

Charlie feeds himself certain things like fruit, snacks, etc. but when it comes to dinner we usually feed him since we usually eat soups. he makes a mess when he feeds himself, and he eats way more if we feed him.

what about you?
