There's only about 2 or 3 commercial dog foods out there (and I don't mean brands, I mean specific foods) that my dog can eat without allergic reactions. The one we're currently on is not organic, and I'm ok with that. The allergens and random crap they put in other foods will harm her a lot more than non-organic meat will.

My dog had extremely bad seizures until we stopped feeding her certain foods, so I take dog nutrition and the ingredients very seriously.

@spaniellove: Yep!! That's what our vet said too!! I was all for spending a little extra and feeding him good quality food, but truthfully, our dog is healthy as a horse! Even our vet said that too. Keeps on telling us keep doing what we're doing!

Although I do give him a lot of fresh fruits and veggies too in addition to dry food. Pretty much anytime I'm preparing a meal and I have fruit or veggies out, I get him some :-)

@MrsBrewer: That reminds me of our vet's saying that the best food for your dog is whatever keeps them healthy and out of the vet's office!

I don't think organic is worth it so much as making sure it doesn't have grains and fillers! My cats are on a prescription diet, though, but chicken is the first ingredient :)

We feed our cats grain free (Blue Wilderness) because one of my cats has digestive issues, and he has a hard time digesting the fillers they put in the food.

We just feed our dog Science Diet though, nothing special. He eats soooo much (7 cups/day) so it would be SUPER expensive....plus we tried at first weaning him to Blue Buffalo food, but it was just waaay too rich for his tummy, and he had diarrhea non-stop for like 3 weeks. We put him back on Science Diet, and he was much better. We're sticking to that from now on!

We feed Acana, which is not organic but grain-free and carefully sourced. Her treats are from Orijen which is from the same company. It's worth it!

we do not buy organic dog food, but it might as well be considering how $$$ their food is! it is grain free.

We do. Leroy is so small and eats so little we don't mind the extra cost if it's better for him. The food is also grain free, GMO free and has very few ingredients. We also feed him all one ingredient or otherwise healthy treats.

We feed the dogs Wellness, which is very high quality but not organic. They also get a lot of fruits and vegetables to supplement. My cats eat a prescription cat food. I'm not very thrilled with the ingredients, but they are prone to urinary tract infections and the food helps prevent it.

Nope. She gets Canidae food which is expensive enough. We have tried grain free but it didn't help (hello, baby table scraps ruining everything...)

We don't feed our kitty organic, but her dry food is grain-free. Her wet food has some grain but no wheat, corn or barley.

It's more a priority for me to feed grain-free than organic. The food we feed right now is grain-free and not organic, but we used to feed Orijen which (I think) was both.
