@Mrs. Jacks: I totally agree! Plus, I think my boy will greatly benefit from having so many girl friends in his life. :) Presumably he'll make more boy friends once he starts school, but right now I love that he gets to develop all these special friendships with girls his age.

I agree with @Mrs. Jacks in that I feel closer to people if they have kids the same age as LO.

For us it's more about age than sex. Most of Lala's best friends are boys except one, so boy or girl doesn't matter, but spacing really helps when both little ones have a 7 pm bedtime or are dropping their morning nap at the same time. It makes for easier play dates :)

And we have one family in our lives where we have the exact same spacing. It's great because the girls are exactly the same level in speech, activities and interest and the two little ones were teething an walking and hitting milestones at exactly the same time. Great for the mamas!

I do, but it is hard to find anyone with a similar situation. I did find one mom who had three boys (twins with a singleton 16 months later) and we have become very close. Not many people know what its like to handle thee boys so close in age.

YEP! In our mommy's group there's a girl who has 2 kids super close in age to my kids.

Her 1st is one month younger than M. Her 2nd is a month younger than J.

I've bonded with her, but super bummed since she's moving to MI in May! :(

Today we met a couple at the park whose kids are gonna be 24 months apart. Charlie and Olive are 22 months apart, so immediately we felt a real bond with the couple!

It's funny how you instantly feel a bond with another couple when they have kids with same gender and month spacing... it's one of the things I wouldn't have predicted about parenthood.

Do you feel closer to other parents who have kids the same gender, and/or similar spacing between their kids?
