@Mae: my husband will pig out and make himself sick (tummy ache) or gain weight (he loves to weigh himself), then complain later in a joking way. I don't think he really feels bad though. Days when we can binge on TV, we call that bonding.

I feel awful, especially about sitting around. I injured my back a few years back, and exercise and weight lifting are how I manage it. If I sit around on the couch for long, my back starts to hurt. It's a good motivator, but I worry about what will happen when I have another baby and have to sit around nursing for hours.

I never feel bad or guilty. I don't even call things like that "bad." Everyone needs a little down time, guilty pleasure time, whatever. Why waste time beating yourself up about it?

I get excited and feel good before I do bad things but once I do them, I feel awful. DH is the same way...we promised to never eat Taco Bell again after the last time we had it lol.

I usually feel pretty bad, unless I was really desperate for it. With food I almost always regret it, but with things like being super lazy, sometimes I really just need it and feel great afterwards. But generally speaking, I feel guilty about my "bad" choices

I feel bad about myself unless I plan to do the bad stuff. But I think you actually have a healthy outlook on enjoying your life and not feeling bad for doing things you enjoy! We should not even be saying they are "bad" as long as other the other crap is done and we are in good health (just easier said than done!)

I'm like you with "bad" things (total toddler here, no impulse control sometimes!), but like him on "good" things. I love feeling accomplished.

I could have written that haha! When the kids nap together I'm like LET'S GO LAY DOWN. He's like but there's laundry and dinner prep and dusting and omgwhocares. So I go lay down and he does all that stuff. THAT I do feel bad about, although not enough to get off my bed.

Yup, I don't care when I do bad things! You only live once and life is too short to not have a milkshake and nachos for dinner. :silly:

@Mrs. Sunshine: that may be part of it for my husband. He often has stomach issues if he eats something greasy or too spicy. So I'm sure that helps along the regret :) I have an iron stomach and almost nothing ever bothers me so I very rarely ever get that "gross feeling" from eating bad food (except like-- too much sugar).

I usually feel bad. Especially regarding eating badly. It just makes me feel gross and there is no way to undo it so I really have to just let it go and get over it. I don't usually feel as bad if I watch Netflix all day but I do still feel better at least physically if I do something productive.

Just curious!

My husband and I are very different in this regard. For example-- if we get something really bad for dinner (like order a pizza and wings) I eat it and I'm like.... that was awesome. He's like ughhh I shouldn't have done that. If we're lazy and watch 4 episodes of a show in a row I'm like--- that was a great afternoon. He's like-- I feel like a lump I can't believe I did that.

And vice versa. If he works out or spends an afternoon cleaning he feels really good about himself. Whereas I'm like man I'm glad that's done because that sucked lol.

I totally recognize he has the healthier outlook. But I think it is interesting that he's somehow programmed to actually get satisfaction from doing "good" things and feel bad about himself when he does "bad" things. Whereas I'm basically a 5 year old and just want to do awesome stuff (eat ice cream and watch netflix all day) 24/7 and pretty much would if there were no consequences for the lazy haha.
