@ScarletBegonia: Agreed! I used to *hate* running, but it is now my workout of choice b/c I can get a good workout in the shortest amount of time.

I do not. I figure I can allocate 5 hours a week to my mental and physical wellbeing. Makes me a better and more patient mom and I want to be a role model of health for her in multiple facets. So I try to model it. Makes me feel good, anyways. I try to do weekends and a couple days of week. I consider it daddy time :) my husband certainly doesn't feel guilty about baby free football Sunday's!!!

If it were while LO was still awake I would feel guilty because I only get to see her for a couple of hours before bed, so that would mean I'd see her even less. If she were asleep for the night I wouldn't feel guilty (this is what I do but I exercise at home).

I would not feel guilty for a second. Working out keeps me sane/energized and is my me time.

@fuzzypeaches: yeah the biggest guilt trip I get is from DH directly! But I told him to quit saying stuff because it kills my workout mojo.

@ScarletBegonia: I dedicated a year to running...and decided I hate it! Haha. But I wish I liked it because it is convenient.

@DillonLion: You said working out in a gym or taking classes is your preferred work out method, but would running be a possibility at all? My son goes to bed at 7, so I get home from work, spend about 2-3 hours with him, change into my running clothes while my husband baths him, do bedtime/nursing, and then head straight out the door for about a 20-30min run. I'm usually home by 7:30 or 8:00 at the latest, eat dinner, shower and then still have some time to spend with my husband before I collapse with exhaustion. To me running is the least time invested for the best return. But take what I say with a grain of salt because I HATE gyms and am only really happy working out outside.

I get up early to run. The type of exercise class I like (barre) isn't really convenient for me to take during the week because it infringes on family time, so I try to make it to one class a week on Saturday. I think I will start going to the gym once or twice a week after she goes to bed.

I have a super long commute too - so my only option is 530am or 8pm. I just figure he's sleeping anyways! I'm therefore always exhausted but endorphinized haha
I almost have more guilt bc it really impacts me and dh time a lot. But I just don't feel like myself if I don't get it done!

I've been making a very concerted effort to exercise on a regular basis. I enjoy working out in a gym setting or taking an exercise class best.

I try to not feel guilty leaving the family to go and do this. DH usually takes care of our chores while I do baby care in the evenings. If I leave to go work out, he cant always be free to do chores since he is doing bath time and whatnot. It kind of messes up our flow.

Going to the gym after she goes to bed is an option, but I like going to bed early since I have a monster commute in the mornings and have to be at work by 8am. Ill go to the gym late once or twice a week.

I do try to take her on brisk walks as a form of exercise sometimes, but now it is pitch black out before we get home from work. This time of year is so depressing when you work full time!!

How do you balance your active lifestyle and also get quality family time when you work full time (besides waking up early to workout)?
