Sometimes I definitely feel like I don't have enough time. I get up at 5am to get ready for work, then I have my 9 hours at work, then I have a 30-45 minute wait for my ride home from work, commute is around another 30 minutes. I come home, feed the dogs, take them for a walk, do things around the house, get groceries, make dinner, clean up after dinner. By this time it's usually around 9 and I'm exhausted, so I'll watch TV for a bit and then go to bed and redo it all the next day.

On Saturday I clean the house, do laundry, run errands, etc. Sunday is really the only day that I have free.

If my husband gets home before me he will take care of the dogs, so that helps but it's rare that he's home first.

I don't even have kids, so I'm super amazed by you ladies who have kids and still have free time!

I stay home so don't have a job to factor in, but now that I have two kids I feel like I have a lot less time. However, I still find some time to get a few things done, and take a little time for myself during naps so that I can stay sane. I just find that my days fly by now, and I'm wondering where the time went.

Yikes! @Cherrybee: I am glad you feel like you have it under control. Not me!

I have fatigue on fatigue right now though because of my thyroid (whomp whomp, but it really does effect me!) and dd isn't a good sleeper and still naps on me :/ plus we just moved so we are still kinda in nuts mode from that.

I can proudly say however that since moving I have gone for a walk with dh and dd every night! (Except literally 2 nights and dh and I argued those nights- so it is a huge priority for me.) I am glad you got your groove back and I think mine is coming :) it is already getting better.

Plus my house is decently clean. Much easier now with washer and drier in unit and an open floor plan. I do still feel stressed and like I am running around all day, but lo is demanding and not easily entertained and I am a perfectionist (it is like... do I really have to make homemade hemp milk everyday?) I am still hoping to chill out more.

It is getting better but no, we feel like chickens with our heads cut off :) but my nightly walk keeps me sane and is our time to talk.

I could always use more time, but for me I know my issues are time management and too many hobbies. :) I work 50-60 hours a week and luckily DH does most of the housework and a good portion of the cooking. There are more things I want to get done but they mostly include home organization and little craft/home/DIY projects. You ladies are really inspiring me - I want to STOP feeling like I don't have enough time and I know I have the power to not feel so overwhelmed all the time.

I think my problem at this stage of life is sleep and not time. My 8.5 month old is still a super awful sleeper. She was up at LEAST 6-8 times last night. Because she's sick--AGAIN--and she has a top tooth coming in, so she was crying basically all night.

I wake up every day at 5:30 to shower, pump and get ready to leave for work at 6:45. I get home by 4:30, play with LO, feed her solids, wash day care bottles, and make something for dinner by the time DH comes home by 7 (usually, unless he's working late.). Whether or not DH is home, LO has her bath at 7:30 and is asleep by 8 pm. We usually eat and clean up (while watching TV) and REALLY, I should/could be done with everything by 8:30 pm each night.

Sadly, I'm pretty exhausted by that point and just have no motivation. I usually just watch more tv, or HB and FB like a lump in front of the couch until my last pump of the night at 9:30. Then I wash all my pump parts, make the night bottles and try to be in bed by 10. I have sleep issues so I'm usually not actually asleep till 11.

Pre-LO I could easily go work out from 8:30-9:00 and go to bed, but not I'm just.so.tired. these days.

Maybe I'm kidding myself, but I figure if I can do everything I do now with very little sleep...imagine what I could accomplish with 7 unintterupted hours a night! If nothing else, at least in a few months I can stop pumping--which is a MAJOR time suck in my life.

Right now, pretty much my entire day is accounted for, I don't have free time. Once I get home from work, there's dinner, cleaning up from dinner, picking up a bit, getting myself ready for the next work day, baths if needed, spending quality time/playing with the girls, feeding babies, taking care of any other misc chores (laundry, etc) and giving my husband a few mins to himself if he's lucky since he's a SAHD to our 5mo twins. This is all while tending to the needs/whims of the twins. By the time they're both asleep, I'm completely spent and just want to go to bed. I know it will get better with time, but, for now, it is what it is.

eta: DH is amazing and more than pulls his weight, the main issue is having twins makes things especially difficult to get things done without constant interruption.

Honestly, I think we've hit a really good grove lately, and I don't feel stretched for time. I'm working 40hrs/week, taking 6 graduate course hours that only take up about 2-3 hours a week of my time, my house stays pretty clean, and DH and I hang out every evening.

It's solely because my DH takes on 50% of the work. He cooks, I clean, or vice versa. While he does bath, I prep tomorrow's diaper bag, bottles, and food.

I am no supermom, and I don't have it all (still haven't found time to lose the extra weight!), but I am so incredibly grateful to my husband for being such an equal partner.

@Cherrybee: well, a couple nights per week, he's working so I solo parent. But when he's home, he's usually goofing off. He watches DD most afternoons so I can understand needing a few minutes to unwind...she is precious but totally exhausting...but he really pushes that. Just five more days (not that I'm counting or anything)!

Between help from my mom (DS' primary care), my flex/wfh schedule, and DH's help in household dutie, and DS being a good sleeper; I feel okay 90% of the time. Some days I'm exhausted and things like laundry will sit before being folded and put away. Other days I feel like super woman and get so much done in a day. Most days I'm at capacity and every min of my day is used toward something.

@PurplePeony: Woah, that's outrageous!! What is he doing while you are bathing the baby and cooking dinner?? While one of us is bathing the baby (usually DH), the other person is putting laundry away and tidying upstairs. Then while one of us cooks (usually DH) the other person cleans downstairs. I can't imagine if I had to do it all. Kick him up the bum!

I generally feel like I could use another 3-4 hours in my day. DH is great with our daughter but he's not confident in some of his parenting skills yet, like giving her a bath, and he won't do it alone. So on bath nights, it's particularly difficult because I get home around 5:45, play with DD for a few minutes, we give her a bath and start bedtime routine around 6:30/6:45, and she's usually down by 7:30. DH "can't" cook, so I then start dinner and try to get bottles and pump parts washed while it cooks. If we're lucky, we can start eating by 8/8:15. By the time we're done and the kitchen is clean, I've got maybe an hour to relax and/or get other stuff done before I need to get to bed. No time for exercise, for sure, and the house is usually a mess. I feel like the best I can do is keep more or less on top of laundry so at least we have clean undies! I know DH needs to get over himself a bit but I've been reluctant to push too much until the big work project he has is over (end of this month). But once April hits, he's going to have to accept that I'm not foolin' -- this schedule is driving me nuts!

I feel like I don't because I pretty much do everything home related myself. Then I have my regular job to tend to and all the paperwork that goes along with the hubby's business. And then there's DS. DH thinks it's no big deal and doesn't understand why i stress so much. really?! I really want to switch lives with him for one week. I even offer to do so all the time (I actually don't mind working at the shop), but he says no. Ugh.

I constantly hear from friends that they don't have enough time. I was so worried, when I went back to work, that I wouldn't be able to fit everything in - especially with my long commute. But actually, I've just gotten better at managing my time and don't feel too pushed. Phew.

I work full time (35 hours pw), study for my degree part time (16 hrs pw, although it rarely takes that long!), keep my house tidy (this is irrationally important to me), enjoy weekends with my daughter and still manage a couple of hours every evening relaxing with my husband. The garden has slipped a bit but when the evenings are lighter I will get out there and sort it out!

I think what makes it possible is that DH does an equal share of all housework and parenting duties. I'm so, so lucky. Plus, I only have one child - I think two would send me over the edge!!

Do you feel like my friends - very stretched for time? Or are things working out pretty well for you time-wise right now?
