I had a lot of Jewish friends growing up and my bf from high school celebrated both Hanukkah and Christmas! I was so jealous.</p> <p>We pretty much celebrate everything as a secular holiday since we're not religious, so I don't feel like I'm missing out or out of the loop.</p> <p>I did as a child though when we were Jehovah Witnesses. No birthdays, Christmas, NOTHING! I stay away from all the bunnies and chicks though, I want her to know we don't celebrate Easter. I grew up in a very conservative Christian denomination that frowns upon celebrating religious holidays. So "cultural" holidays were okay, but celebrating Christmas as Christ's birth and including any religious aspects (angels, stars, etc.) was discouraged. Kind of weird, right? It was hard to explain to others as a kid and even though I don't adhere to it as an adult, I still feel weird about it sometimes. Especially when I hear/read stuff about how "Jesus is the reason for the season" and focusing on anything other than the religious aspects of holidays is "materialistic"... because obviously that is not the case for my family.</p> <p>As far as the cute Easter stuff, 90% of it is totally nonreligious, and more about spring! But I don't celebrate Easter. We do have a weird tradition of dying eggs for Passover because a hard boiled egg is part of the seder plate so I have been pinning some of those. I do think the good thing about not celebrating these holidays is that we save tons of money! </p>
