I don't have a car, but I'd never leave anything valuable in the car and we don't leave our apartment door unlocked--this is New York City!</p> <p>However, I moved from a bad neighborhood (as in the occasional gunshot or person harmed/killed by a stray bullet was "normal") to a nice family oriented neighborhood. I feel so much safer, but it's still the city so you have to maintain a general level of watching your back. I feel safe walking him at any time of night, which is my safety litmus test.
