Sounds like one of two things:
A. They are not sure what you will think about their choices, as to judge *them*
B. They don't want some "stranger" to know where their children go during the day. It's possible that they are leery of giving away that information.
Other than those two reasons I've got nothing.

maybe they don't want to bore you with the nitty gritty details? That's the best positive spin I can put on it, I guess.

I have one experience with this. I had befriended someone briefly and when I had my LO I emailed her for some daycare/schooling advice and she never responded. I always wonder why but I wasn't about to try and email her again.

I've never had people be like that to me. That seems weird. My first thought was maybe they are competitive and don't want your lo to compete for a spot in the school, but you don't have a lo yet so that can't be it.

Maybe the daycares and schools are competitive to get into? Or maybe they think they'll be judged by others if their kids aren't in the 'best' daycare or school? I can't think of any other reason..

*This post relates to people I am just acquaintances with. I have one friend with kids and she has been more than helpful. She also wonders this same question, though...*

I know a few people in my area that have young children. I have tried to talk to them about things like daycare and schooling. Every one of them seems hesitant to actually state the name of the daycare their child to go to and doesn't want to talk about what elementary school their child will be going to. It's like it's all some big "you have to be a parent to understand it" secret or something.

I don't understand this. I'm all about helping someone out when I have knowledge on a situation that they're new to. I'm obviously new to parenting and daycare and all that, why wouldn't a parent want to help another future parent out?
