Typically yes, but lately I've been getting more 2 or 3+ toys. As long as there are no obvious choking hazards or it is something way advanced for her :)

I usually buy toys that are recommended for slightly older children. I was just browsing toys last night and the suggestions for his age group looked so babyish to me.

I use common sense rather than the age recommendations.

Not really. Somehow consumer safety people have decided 3 is the magical age when kids stop putting things in their mouths. Like others, I know my 2 y.o. is not about putting stuff in her mouth. I mean, she barely puts food in her mouth LOL. So I have no problem getting her older-kid toys. For my almost 4 y.o., who can read numbers, I use age recommendations as an excuse not to get him lego sets. Ha!

I don't follow recommendations. Some of her favorites are, for example, blocks for kids 3+

My 20 month old daughter has several 3+ toys. She's teething so she still bites them occassionally (especially puzzle pieces) but she knows if she bites her big girl toys they get put in the closet. I would be more worried if she put whole pieces in her mouth but she was never into that.

I'm always getting him toys he is too young or old for since he stopped putting things in his mouth ages ago. I typically vase it more on instinct and knowing my child more than age guidelines.

If a toy looks like something that my oldest LO would like, and I know she can handle it at her age I will buy it for her regardless of the age recommendation. She has these little plastic animals that she plays with for hours on end but the age recommendation is 3+. She also plays with Legos with her cousins, but is always supervised and has never been one to put things in her mouth. However, my youngest is only 8 months old so anything that's smaller than her hand I keep out of her reach.

Do you follow age recommendations on toys? Or do you use your own judgement?
