@travelgirl1: yeah my in laws had a bad bug and brought it to us almost a week later! We didn't leave the house between that time (vacation and snow) so it had to of been them! Plus we always get sick after we see them. Literally. Every single time.

Vomiting, diarrhea, fever, we don't leave the house (unless it's a fever from an ear infection). @travelgirl1: my youngest son gave me and my older son a stomach virus a week and a HALF after he last showed symptoms. It was nuts. He woke up throwing up this past Sunday, and everyone has had a mild version of it since then (except my older son), and we probably would cancel thanksgiving if we had plans. Those little buggers can be contagious for two weeks!

@Bao: oh my! I think vomiting and diarrhea really does mean stay home. My daughter ended up in ER once over a vomiting bug and that was a week after her friend last vomited and the house had been meticulously cleaned. I take stomach bugs super seriously after that.

same with @travelgirl1: fever, vomit, or diarrhea and we stay home at least for 24 hours. My sister is notorious for bringing her kids when they are sick so I always ask her before any family event.

Depends, if she has a high fever or throwing up I wouldn't take her. If people are coming to us, then we let them decide.

@travelgirl1: people we are around clearly don't care. Last year there was a vomiting 6 year old standing on a chair over all the food picking through it. Then a lot of "I was so sick with diarrhea last night it was terrible"...so maybe this is a good excuse to just stay home regardless lol. Do gotta get an accurate temp, but so far just a stuffy nose. Fingers crossed!

Fever, vomiting or diarrhea we stay home and I expect the same from my friends and family. Coughs or colds I will check with the parents ahead of time. I find now that most of LO's friends are in school or daycare, most parents are okay with coughs and colds.

LO woke up not feeling well today. She feels like she has a fever but my thermometer is finicky so not exactly sure on the numbers for that yet. I'm keeping her home from school but thinking ahead to tomorrow. I get irritated when people are knowingly sick and come around anyway, so we will likely stay home unless she wakes up from this nap fine and shows no other symptoms. I guess we will see how the day goes!

What's your sick "rules" for taking LO out to family gatherings, parties, the store etc?
