It gets tossed for any of those but I don't usually look at sell/use by dates except during purchase. If a piece of fruit or cheese has a bad part in it I'll usually just cut out the spoiled part and eat the rest. I sometimes throw milk out before the date if it doesnt look or smell right to me. If it is something like a bagel or bread I'll still eat past the date as long as it smells, looks and feels fine.
