We wont really have garage sales in the area I live but growing up we did in that area and my mom used to be the same. I think your experience with your mom is both super cute and cherish able! You just reminded me of our old days. I have to tell you though: my mom went for household stuff or gym equipment and always found deals. I think baby stuff is more hit n miss because you need baby stuff to be in tip top shape and it's usually not.

The garage sales in our town are rarely worth going to: lots of digging, smokey smelling things, etc. I will typically only go to a garage sale if I know the person putting it on and know their stuff is clean and quality.

However, my sister lives in Kansas City so when I go visit her we'll go to garage sales in the super, super rich areas where the professional athletes live. I scored a brand new looking $400 stroller for $15 bucks. They got rid of it because their nanny preferred a different stroller. Score for me!

I'm not a garage saler. I'm not a digger either! I've never throw a garage sale, but probably will once the kids outgrow their stuff. We have lots of great loot! :D

Yes, but I typically like rummage sales. I think they have more order and organization.

Our neighborhood has community garage sales so we participate in that. Its a good way to get rid of our crap, and I like to walk around and look but I usually don't buy much, if anything at all.

My mom is like the most super-serious garage-saler in the world. She used to drag us out of bed while it was still dark out on Saturdays to be the first person to hit them. And she mapped them out from the Classifieds the night before. We thought it was SO. LAME.

This morning while I was doing my regular morning surf on Craigslist for new baby items that people are trying to ditch for cash, an ad popped up for a garage sale nearby that had a ton of baby stuff, including the Snugabunny swing I want. So I went and looked, and as much as I love a good deal, I don't think garage sale-ing is for me. The Snugabunny had cooties/dirt on it and it didn't look like I could remove the entire cover and wash it (She wanted $70! Somebody LIED, lady!!!!). And she had tons of baby clothes in cardboard boxes that I started to dig through before getting overwhelmed. I am not a digger. I like order when I shop. So all I bought was 5 or 6 Carters newborn onesies for 25 cents each.

I was all excited going over there, and the realization that it may not be for me kind of bummed me out.

Do you garage sale? What are some of the great deals you've gotten?
