My parents' home is across the street from an elementary school and the kids dress up and have a costume parade on Halloween (or at least they did when I was a kid/in high school/college). So lots of kids would stop on their way home from school to kick off their trick or treating, plus we'd get a lot later in the day. My mom said they don't get as many any more though. DH and I have never had ANY though. We've always lived in apartments and no kids were really around. This year I was so excited bc we had/have a house in a neighborhood full of kids, but we moved cross country and are back in a temporary apartment.
